prenatal vitamins

I'm not pregnant....yet, but my Ob/Gyn perscribed me prenatal vitamins. They are a little pricey and theres no way i'm going to spend that kind of cash on vitamins. So i was wondering if over the counter prenatal vitamins were the same as perscription?

  • OTC prenatals work just fine. I use Good Sense prenatals from Wal Mart.

  • I took/still take Flintstones.

I have a horrible time swallowing pills and those prenatals are monsters!

This.  Flintstone Completes, one twice a day.  They were life savers, since I can't swallow horse pills normally, much less when I have the super-sensitive pregnancy gag reflex.

  • Target brand was easy on my stomach and cheap.  My insurance wouldn't cover the ones my OB prescribed, but the samples he gave me made me sick anyway.  When I switched doctors, the new place told me not to worry about prescription.

  • My grocery stores has some prenatals that they have for free. You could look to see if your store does and then ask your OB for that prescription.
