We have a split level house with 5 levels so I wanted to have multiple choices depending on where we're at. PNP is in the family room, crib is 2 levels above, and FP Rock & Play is going to be in our bedroom on the top level.

He'll sleep in the family bassinet for about the first 6 wks (the breastfeeding exhaustion phase) then next door in the nursery crib. I don't even know what brand the bassinet is; it's just simple and sturdy. I got it out of the attic last night - can hardly wait! But there's sooo much to accomplish in the next 10 weeks... okay I can wait :-)
I got a rolling mini crib. Traditional cribs are like 30x54, but my mini is only 20x37. Bigger than a bassinet, but small enough to fit between doorways. Plus the mattress can be lowered.
My stepdad is making him a cradle, like he does for each kid when they have their first child. Its a family heirloom sort of thing. Its a special size, so my mom is making the mattress and all the bedding for it. I guess its like a bassinet, but I wanted to AW his awesomeness. We probably won't get it until he is born, because we live so far away, but I'll post some pics when we do.
We have a cradle that my siblings and I and my niece all slept in. My parents pulled it out last week and set it up. After the first couple of months, LO will move into the crib in their room.
Rock N Play! It ended up being our favorite baby gear item with DD, so we plan to use it again. I love that it keeps them elevated (for several reasons) and all babies seem to love them as well!
Crib wasn't even an option? Baby's room is right next to ours, so he'll be in his crib from day 1. The only time he'll be in our room is if it's a super hot night, because we have the AC unit.
I'm surprised by how many are going straight to the crib! I guess not everyone is super paranoid like we are. DD slept in the Rock n Play or PnP in our room until she was about 9 months old! Her room is upstairs and ours is downstairs though, so I guess that makes a little bit of difference.
We do plan to move this baby sooner, but I can't imagine putting him in a different room right off the bat. Plus, it's convenient to have them in your room when you're getting up every 1.5-2 hours. Eek.
My family has an antique cradle that everyone has used for their LO's... going back to 1882. (And yes, I've measure the slats to know they are still up to safety standards!)
DD slept in it for the first five weeks, when we transitioned her to the crib. We'll do the same probably with DS. Then the cradle will be sent to my sister's house, since she is expecting 9 weeks after me.

I'm a SS this time around...we have an antique "crib" that was hand-carved by my H's great great grandfather...4 generations have slept in this "crib" (which is so small it's more the size of a bassinet), including DH and his brother. We'll use that next to the bed until he outgrows it, and then it's off to actually make use of his crib and room.
Add me to the list of folks with a family hand-me-down cradle that's been used for multiple generations. We'll use it as long as my mom and dad are in town helping out, basically to prove that yes, we're using it.... then it's to the crib ASAP.

We got an Arms Reach co-sleeper passed down from a family member who looooooved theirs (and used it with their youngest until she was 19!!!! months old). We plan to have baby in there for the first 6 months or so. If the Arms Reach hadn't been passed down, baby would've slept in the PnP for the first 6 months or so. Our nursery is super close to our room, but I have always known I'd want to co-sleep.
DD2 will sleep in our room in the PNP bassinet until she reaches the weight limit. At that point, we plan to move her into DD1's room (they're going to share a room) and into a crib.
Re: CPT: what will your LO sleep in?
Probably her crib. Her room is right next to ours.

I didn't really know what to do and was on the fence for a while about putting LO in the crib in their nursery right away.
Everyone I talked to who has babies had different opinions...
We have decided to use a moses basket (with stand) in our room for the first few months.
