Tell us how you met your DH or SO!
My husband and I met one summer when I was in college. He was the lead singer of the band at a club my friend and I had gone to to celebrate another friend's birthday. My girlfriend and I used to challenge each other to go talk to guys and my friend bet me that I would not be able to leave the club with the lead singer of the band. I went up to talk to him when he was on break, he asked me to dance, we left the club and had breakfast together and watched Pulp Fiction on VHS. Fourteen years later, the rest is history.
hehehe...match.com Best $34.95 I ever spent! We were together 4 years before we got married. Coming up on our 2nd wedding anniversary.
This is so fun!!
Met DH at Wells Fargo. He was a teller and I was the customer. He would give me the suckers, Dum Dums, every time I came in or went through the drive thru. He would always come to my work, I worked at Chili's at the time, and eat lunch. Gave me his number once but I told my sis if he wants to date me he needs to call me. Well, a year after flirting in the bank he finally called me and asked me out! We went to lunch on a Wednesday and dinner on Friday and have been together for 9 years now! He proposed on our 1 yr anniversary got married a year later!
We met freshman year in high school (20 years ago!)
A mutual friend thought we should meet since we were both such shorties. We went to freshman yr homecoming together and basically dated all throughout HS.
Went our own ways during college. And hooked back up when we graduated and were living back in our hometown.
It took us over 8 years of after college dating to finally get married!
krbell22:At work! We were hired within a few weeks of each other in different departments...me in HR, him in operations. We were friendly, but he was engaged. Well, that didn't work out (obviously!). When I was offered a promotion to move to another local building, he and some other coworkers threw me a party at a local piano bar. Too many shots later (bad HR person that I am!), we were smooching outside. I left the company six months later, we started dating publicly and got engaged the following year. Seven years from meeting, we're married, both have changed jobs, moved away from our friends and family, adopted two dogs and had our amazing son!
Glad I'm not the only one who got drunk and made out with a coworker who ended up being my husband!
This is fun ... such cute & varied stories!
I came over to the States to a friends wedding and whilst I had already paid for a ticket I decided to prolong my trip and visit another friend, Elizabeth, in IL. Whilst I was with her a bunch of us went out for dinner and she set me up with an Italian guy (thinking we could chat in Italian for the night) and another friend of hers with Chad. Chad and I ended up consoling each other for Elizabeth's matchmaking skills were terrible, however we ended up getting on really well and he asked if I had time to go on a bike ride or go kayaking ... I did not so instead he got on a plane about 6 weeks later and won my heart in London! The rest is history!
Well, we met 2 times before he actually remembers meeting me... so the time he remembers...
We had been at the same NYE party and after midnight we all walked to the bar. I had been dancing with a friend and he wandered off because his phone was ringing so I went to walk off the dance floor to get another drink when DH approched me with a corny pickup line... we danced for a bit then walked back to the party, had waffle house at 2am then I drove him home because his ride ditched him.
We met 7hrs away from home on vacation at the beach. It was my birthday and I was (maybe drunk and) yelling at people from our balcony that, you know, it was my birthday. One of my friends noticed that she knew a guy in one of the groups we were conversing with from 5 stories in the air. She invited them to hang out with us. My husband was in that group and we all hung out together all week and exchanged phone numbers the last day. We started dating a few weeks after we got home.
So, in short, I traveled 400mi to meet a guy that lived 2mi down the road from me.
Was temporarily assigned to Newport, RI for work. While up there met a couple girl friends who I really hit it off with. The week before one of the girls weddings, she was like "hey, someone cancelled, would you like to come." Went to the wedding and then the wedding after party (polo match). My DH saw me playing fetch with a friends dog and "becauase he really likes dogs, came over to pet the dog." Continued hanging out the rest of the day. Later that night he walked me home and pretty much just never left :) Almost 6 years later, I moved full time to RI, have two dogs, a beautiful daughter and couldn't be happier!!
We fell in love over cheesy 90's rap music. One of my friends owned a bar in my hometown, so I went visit her one night and sing karaoke. Well, I can't sing at all so my go to karaoke song is "Ice, Ice Baby." My friend put Jason right after me because his karaoke go to is "Baby Got Back." We joked about having a rap off & he was just too cute. We didn't exchange numbers, but I went back the next weekend to make sure I ran into him again. When I went back, he was hanging out with one of my guy friends from college & used our mutual friend as leverage to have me join them at their table. A couple other meet-ups at the bar & a few dates later we were officially an item.
one of my guy friends (who lived out of town) was visiting me and invited DH over to my place just to holler at him while he was in town. DH was married at the time but i remember thinking how cute he was.
[many years and a divorce later]
same friend leaves a message on my voice mail with DH on the phone. i had just purchased my first home and they both congratulated me and DH said call him at such and such number because he'd love to buy my first welcome mat.
i called and the rest is history. oh but this is the crazy part: the same friend introduced DH to his FIRST wife.
DH was one of the rare straight male flight attendents. We were both flight attendants and went on some pretty awesome dates all over the world. 13 years later, we're still flying the "friendly skies" -- albeit he's a pilot now and I just get the flights benes.
And, yes, to the mile-high club...
Love, luck, and prayers to my BFPB Dr. SnowflakeBride
