it's cute, but i agree with your H. i would try to find a name you could use Dixie as a nn for.
ETA: ask the baby name board, i bet they'd have some great suggestions
One angel in heaven - with us for 6 weeks and 5 days, forever missed. Our big girl - Dec 5th 2008 Our baby girl - April 29th 2011
Not a fan.
Dixie is way to HeeHaw for me. And Grace is a filler middle name...it would be great as a first name.
The baby name board will hate Dixie. I almost guarantee it. Don't post there unless you want some serious honesty that might hurt your feelings. (I love the baby name board, but it's not for everyone).
I actually know a dog named Dixie, so I have to agree with your H.
DD - April 2011 DS - June 2013
Where do you live? Dixie will be received in places differently if you aren't in the south...
That being said, I'm not a fan of Dixie. I don't hate it, it just seems a little redneck-y to me.
SouthSideDrea:I love Dixie as a nickname, but I always think of how these names will sound when our children are adults.
CTGirl30:Try to picture Dixie as a 30 year old woman interviewing for jobs.
