I went in to the hospital yesterday morning at 6am to begin my induction. I was 2 and 70 and we expected a quick delivery because my DS was born 2.5 hours after my doc began my induction by rupturing my membranes. Isla had other plans!
6am Arrived at hospital, got IV, labs, etc.
7am-830am waited for my doc, then found out that she was going to be in surgery from 0830-1000 and didn't want to come rupture me until she was out so I didn't deliver while she was in surgery. Pit was started and increased every 20 min until I was contracting regularly.
1100- my doc came in to rupture me, but I was 3cm/80% and babe was at -3 station so she didn't feel comfortable rupturing me until she moved down some more.
1253- doc came back and I was contracting every 2-3 min and now 4cm/80% and -2 station, so she ruptured me (we expected things to move quickly now)
1435- 5cm 80% and still contracting every 2-3 min. Increasing pit and contractions getting stronger (feeling discouraged!)
1540- 6cm and 90%...feeling very discouraged! Still no epidural or pain meds.
1615- feeling a lot more pressure (to this point all contractions were felt in back/hips/pelvis/tailbone...not fun!) Was finally 8-9cm and 100% with anterior lip. Nurse called my doc and she came over. She determined that Isla was posterior (sunny side up) and probably why I had that lip left.
1650- felt Isla move and a gush of fluid (hoping this meant she turned her head)
1655- complete and can push! Started pushing at 1658 and delivered at 1716.
The placenta took 20 min to deliver and then I had some extra bleeding requiring a lot of extra meds and Pit overnight (causing me to feel like I was still in labor!). My blood cell count is low so I need to stay an extra day and may need blood tomorrow (but hopefully not!).
Isla Penelope is perfect and weighed 8# 3oz, 21 inches. She wants to eat all the time and is nursing like a champ!
