I had an
ultrasound this morning (41 weeks today) to check and make sure
everything is okay with the baby. The tech checked the placenta,
amniotic fluid, took measurements of the baby and scored her on 4
different things (breathing, movement, etc.) which Little Miss scored 8
out of 8. :o)
So everything looks good. She's estimated to be around 7# or so (I think the tech said she's measuring at 7# 12oz, and that the margin of error is 14oz either way). We'll see how big she is when she arrives!
The MW said that all looks good with the u/s results, and then I had another internal where I was surprised to hear that I was dilated to 4cm (2 more than Monday, though the MW that day tried stretching me from a 2 to a 3). She asked if I've been having contractions, and I told her yes, but that I thought they hadn't been strong enough to do anything. Guess I was wrong! I had my membranes stripped again, and the MW got me to 5cm dilated. And Little Miss is at a +1 station!
Whoohoo! MW said I will most likely be back tonight. If I get too uncomfortable or want to have things progress more I can head in to L&D triage and they can break my water (if it doesn't break on its own, which chances are good of that happening). So I took the MW's suggestion and we came home and I ate a light lunch, plan on making a few laps around the yard and taking a nap (if possible) and laboring at home as long as I can.
DH & I are so surprised at this news--totally not what we expected to hear today! God is good and does answer prayers! So exciting to think that we could be holding our little one by tonight/early tomorrow.
Labor dust to all us waiting mommies! :o)
