I'm an RN, but I'm currently a SAHM to the kids. I'll keep doing this until our last (probably this baby) is in school.
DH owns his own IT business and works out of a home office. I love his job...the flexibility, the availability to us...it is really great.
Do you still work to keep your license active or will you have to re-take the boards when you start working again? I was thinking of this when we were discussing me being a SAHM.

No! Never do you retake boards. Generally speaking states have requirements to stay active (completing continuing education credits and paying for active license). I moved from Ohio to Indiana and my OH license (where I took boards) transferred without retaking boards.
I am an RN with a Master's Degree in Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. I graduated last may and still no job.... I am teaching pediatric clinicals for Ivy Tech which SUCKS but pays well.
Me: corporate communications manager and freelance tech and copy writer. I am going part-time at my job in July so I can focus more on freelance and stay off my feet a bit more for the babies though.
me: I have a degree in Horticulture but SAH with DD#1, took a retail banking position for IF health benefits and I plan to SAH with #2....but I stay active in the horticulture industry still.
Hubs: Has a degree in Vet Med but owns an auger boring company...it's a specialized form of underground construction (ie: if a new water/sewer/storm sewer needs to be installed on the other side of an interstate-he drills/jacks pipe underneath because it's not possible to shut the interstate down, dig it up and intall utilities)

Both restaurant managers, so our schedules suck. Hoping to work something out with my boss for more day shifts once baby is here so childcare will be easier. Finding someone til 10 pm or later 5 nights a week wouldn't be very fun..
