10-11 Weekers - How Much Eating and Anyone on Rice Cereal?

Has anyone started rice cereal yet?  Please let me know.  We are at conflict over this in my house.  How much are your 10-11 weekers eating (formula) at a time?  My little one is getting SO pudgy and I just want to be sure we are not overfeeding him.  Bottom line though, he seems happy, doesn't cry and sleeps all night...  ???

  • I'd consult your Pedi with any concerns.

Ours said no solids till at least 4 months so we won't introduce anything more until then.

Sabrina will be 12 weeks tomorrow and as of the past couple days has been eating 6 ounces on occasion but generally it's 4-5 ounces.

Your bottom line, to me, means you should leave well enough alone. Why change something if baby is happy and thriving?

  • My son drinks 6 oz every 3 hours during the day and then sleeps 8 straight hours at night. No cereal yet for him. He's been drinking 6 oz per feeding since he was like 7 weeks. He's in the 80th percentile for both height and weight. Pedi is not concerned with his weight. If your pedi thinks his weight is okay, don't worry. Pudgy babies can be perfectly healthy. Just ask your pedi if you're concerned.
  • 5 oz. every 3-4 hours. LO isn't sttn yet either. I haven't even thought about starting rice cereal. He seems to be doing just fine.
  • Thanks guys!  He eats 6 oz. every 3 hours during the day but is sleeping for 7-8 hours at night, so I think it's fine.  I just got nervous b/c he is getting so chunky and we don't go for our 4 month appt. for three more weeks, LOL.
  • still ebf or breastmilk in bottles--4-6 feedings per day--sttn 5-7 hour stretches.   won't start cereals until after next dr appt in may--when we discuss it
  • Claire is only 9 weeks, but we aren't even considering rice cereal yet. I EBF and she eats a lot during the day.. like 6-8 times probably. But then she STTN with a 9-10 hour block of sleep followed by 2-3 hours.

  • no cereal yet...too early for that.

My LO eats 4-5 oz. every 4 hours during the day and sleeps 7-9 hours each night.

  • My LO drinks about 3-4 oz ever 2-3 hours, but sometimes he'll drink up to 5oz. He'll drink more, but then he spits it back up, so I have to cut him off. And we aren't thinking about any kind of solids until like 5 or 6 months...
