Anybody have a basic list to create a registry?
Some starting points?
2nd+ time moms, what input do you have? Must haves/wastes of $
We aren't starting it now, but I do want to start researching everything.
Must have is the Snap-n-go Stroller. It is a stroller frame that fits the infant carrier. Small, not bulky. I think the big travel system stroller combo is a big waste of money.
When LO moves out of the infant carrier you can then buy a regular stroller, I like the Maclaren brand.
I was just thinking that we should start a list ofr the 2nd timers to share their favorite baby products.
We love our Fisher Price Space Saver Highchair. seat pad is easy to clean, the highchair is small and easy to store, and the boys have loved it. If they fall asleep in it (which many babies do) you can actually recline the baby with one easy lever and not disturb them.
Although I've heard the Ikea one is nice too....
I'm a first timer too, but here's my list so far:
pack n play (we're keeping the baby in our bedroom for the first couple of months, a crib will follow!)
carseat + stroller that attaches (I've heard from other mamas like Mindymo25 that the travel systems are not worth it)
I know there are TONS of other things I'll need, but I'm trying to get the big things first! I know it's early to be making purchases, but it's fun to window shop :) I'm interested in hearing what everyone else thinks!
Here's some good info...
Ok here's my list of DON'T need/Useless products :)
Here's what we really used a LOT:
PnP...really NOT needed if you only have a 1 story house or don't travel a lot. We used ours for travel purposes and for the changing table in the very beginning.
Swing...He LIVED in it for a long time
Bouncy Seat....LOVED it
Travel System...we got one that was lightweight and not nearly as bulky as most. These days they have even SMALLER ones than what we bought. After he was year old though we didn't use the stroller much unless it was for LONG trips like the mall or the zoo.
I'm always available for questions so don't hesitate to ask me ladies...I'm an open book. I'll answer ANY question about Motherhood/products/delivery ect :)
We got a lot of use out of our Boppy, Bumbo, and bouncer.
I would also recommend a swing that plugs into the wall (nice not having to buy batteries!)
Wipe warmers and bottle warmers are a waste of money.
I loved using the gerber sleep gowns in the first few months (made it super easy for middle of the night diaper changes).
Invest in a good mobile (we have the FP rain forest one). We didn't have one at first but once we finally got one it worked wonders on getting Isabella to sleep.
That's all I can think of for now but i'm sure there is much more I could add.
I love my pnp... I don't think I'll ever get rid of it, b/c it's so nice to have available when friends visit with little ones. We use ours often for that reason.
My second didn't really care for being in any kind of an apparatus for very long, lol, but my first loved everything...swing, bouncer, saucer etc...
I loved my Avent bottle warmer bag. Kept the bottle warm so we could fix the bottle in anticipation of when my son would wake up from his nap and have it ready to go...
Another small but handy thing is the formula dispenser if you're doing bottles... I liked the teeny tiny individual dispenser too until my dh left it at a restaurant. :(
I also started a list of the new or at least new to me "baby gadgets" that are out now that I may wanna register for.
Boon Squirt... Baby Spoon that holds the food in it! Just squeeze and it will supposedly squirt out.
Handsfree Bottle Kit... don't know if this would really work or not...
Booginhead SippiGrip Cup... tethers the sippy cup to car seat or stroller...
My Little Seat... Cloth Foldable Travel High Chair... not a necessity but nice when you're traveling or visiting friends w/o a highchair.
