Stitches?

When do they dissolve? My tear was pretty big and required a lot of stitches. But I'm hoping they go away by the first appointment...or should they have dissolved by now?? I'm 3 weeks post partum.

I had to different types of stitches.  The internal stitches were 6 wk dissolvable and the external were 3 week dissolvable.

I think it depends what type of stitches they used.

I'm a few days shy of 3 weeks, but haven't seen any of my stitches come out yet and I have stitches going three different directions. I have a full episiotomy with DS1 and i'm pretty sure my stitches didn't come out until around 6 weeks. Honestly if my stitches were coming out already it would scare me.

I was wondering the same thing.  I'm only 2 weeks out and have already found a few stitches.  My tear wasn't bad, but I was concerned that something was wrong.

my doc told me 6 weeks - I still had a few at my 6week check up - but I had a ton of stitches!!
