How Much Does Day Care Cost?

I live in Queens, NY - about 12 or 15 miles east of Manhattan - and I'm due in April 2010. ??My husband and I will both have to work full-time after the baby is born and we're currently thinking up options for child care when the baby arrives. ?

Can someone give me a ballpark figure of how much daycare would cost for a 3-month old in my area of NY?

Anyone have any daycare centers they can recommend??

Where I'm at, it's about $1050 per month for infant care.

In the metro DC area it can run from $285/week to over $300/week.

Wow. I'm lucky also. I've heard that daycare costs much more in bigger cities. Mine will cost about $460/month.

The Pre-School of America in Forest Hills is cheaper than in the city.  Around $1,000 per month for infants.  They are not yet taking infants though, but plan on it within the next few months.  There is also one in Fresh Meadows.

We pay about $1300/month for our toddler in metro Denver (not New York, but still downtown and urban). Our center charges $1450 for infants.  Good luck!
