Do you have to claim a dependent if you're claiming head of household?

Matt says that he needs to claim HOH so he can basically cheat and not have to pay in on taxes....

I always thought that if you claim HOH you have to claim said dependent

You have to be single with a dependent to claim head of household.

No, he'd have to claim ds. You can't get hoh status by yourself. Then you would just be filing as single. You don't have any other dependents?

Tell him to piss off. He's no damn head of household. And make sure you claim DS before he does.

i've already got my appointment to have my taxes done on monday night...the tax guy i'm going to actually said that i am one of the first people to even file with him!
