My new RE recommended and ERA test. From my understanding they basically do a mock cycle and put your on progesterone for the normal 5 days. Then instead of doing the transfer they take a snip of your lining and send it out to the lab to see if you are pre-receptive, receptive, or post-receptive. Then depending on your results they may bump up or push back your FET a day or two.
Has anyone had this done? And if so were adjustments made to you protocol that resulted in a successful pregancy? I'm curious as to how often abnormalities are found with this test, my insurance doesn't cover it so I don't really want to delay another month to do it if its a waste of time.
Thank you!

Hi @2momshoping, I just had a good experience with the ERA test. I did my first FET in October and got a BFN. Because my RE knows that this is my last shot with my 4 remaining frozen embryos, he recommended the test just in case. I did the ERA biopsy after 5 nights of progesterone and it came up as Pre-receptive. We repeated the test the next cycle, adding in an extra night of progesterone. It came back as receptive. I just had my first FET since the testing, transferring on the day after the 6th progesterone injection. I am now pregnant for the first time in my life. I am certainly glad I took the time (and money) and did the testing. Hope that is helpful!

@Vic311 Congratulations on my BFP!!! It looks like it has been a long road for you and I'm so happy you found success after this test. It seems like everything in fertility takes longer than expected and after delays for other reasons the extra month or two for testing is a bummer but I guess I just want the best chance I can with my last two embryos. Thanks for sharing your experience.

I had it done, too. My first test came back as pre-receptive. We opted to do a second one, 1 day later and that came back as POST-receptive. Which is quite bizarre. So we were prepping for a transfer with basically an extra half dose of Crinone...and then..
I got pregnant naturally. My only BFP ever. I strongly believe while it wasn't the results of the biopsy that helped me specifically, the endo scratch aspect made my lining more receptive. I had never had implantation prior to that.

I also had it done, after 2 failures. Mine came back receptive, so nothing was changed. But my next FET I got my BFP! I know my RE holds this test in high regards and says it has helped many of his patients. The biopsy hurt like hell, but I think it's well worth it!

Nightly news with Lester Holt had a story about this tonight and how it is going to be a real game changer in IVF. I'm glad so many of us have doctors that are on the ball and ahead of the curve!
I had this done back in June and it resulted in me needed 12 add'l hours of progesterone for best receptivity. I then got my first positive pregnancy test in August. It was the only change in protocol from the previous transfers, so i believe its what made the difference. Best of luck!
