Appointment went well. Fluffy new baby is measureing two days behind (I'm technically 8w6d) ovulation but they assured me that is totally fine and there's a +/- 5 day margin of error. We saw a precious heartbeat, two stumpy arms, and a baby that kept rolling away from us.
I have an appointment on Thursday. I will be 8w5d. I'm going to try go convince them to do a dating ultrasound so we get to make sure that precious little one is doing ok!
My first ultrasound is Wednesday at 2:30 and it cannot come soon enough!! I'll be 9 weeks and I'm just hoping that everything is okay and we'll see a little baby with a strong heartbeat.
Had my first ultrasound with my RE this morning! Everything looks great and we got to see the flicker and hear the heartbeat! It was amazing. Updated my EDD to 6/23/17, and released me to go back to my OBGYN.
I have a question for you guys - My "new" obgyn who I saw once early in TTGP for genetic testing went on maternity leave before I saw her a second time. I really liked her, how she explained things, and didn't think I was crazy for being controlling about TTGP unlike my previous doctor. DH's urologist recommended another obgyn to start IUI, so I made an appt there for 11/10 before my BFP. He happens to be at the same practice as the previous doctor I hated. They would only schedule an annual, as I was "overdue" in their records. When I got my BFP, I called the new obgyn to see when she would be back from maternity leave, and she can see me on 11/22. I've had my betas and progesterone checked with them twice now. I just called to cancel the annual with the other doctor and they said come in anyway, I still need an annual.
How different would the two appointments be? Is there any reason insurance would deny one? Of course I would rather go in sooner plus see how I like the "IUI" doctor, but I don't know if I will like the doctor more than the maternity-leave obgyn, so I don't want to put off getting started with the one I *think* I will choose.
Has anyone else doctor shopped and how did that go with insurance?
Highly monitored internet and no cell service in the office, so I'm postin' and ghostin' while I'm workin'
@glitterfish I'm surprised that you couldn't just handle your annual at your 11/22 appointment? In my experience, my doctor did a pap during one of my first tri appointments (I think it was 12 weeks) which is basically all that happens at an annual appointment anyway. Your new OBGYN might want a pap done that she has records of, at a certain time in your pregnancy. I'd cancel the other appointment, or call your new doctor first and ask about it. it seems silly to go in for an annual now when you'll be in for a prenatal appointment in a couple of weeks.
I do think the appointments are probably coded differently for insurance purposes though, so I doubt insurance would deny either of them.
I have my first appt on Thursday and the week is draaaagging. I'll be 7w1d ( they think I'll be 8w by then going by LMP) but they told me I'll get an ultrasound anyway so DH and I are just anxiously awaiting to see/ hear a heartbeat at this point.

Hi appointment twin! Me too, except i'll be 7w6d and the doctor thinks i'll be 8w3d based on LMP. :-)
@Delujm0 Is the week going slow for you as well? I feel like this home stretch is killing me! You would think I'd be thrilled to have the week drag on since I have to fly out the next day and I have a terrible fear of flying....
@sirius37 luckily the first few days of the month are very busy for me at work so that is helping. but I'm Def ready to get this ultrasound over and done with!
I had a work-in appointment on Tuesday. I basically just wanted to talk to my OB so she could talk me off the edge I was on since I had fevers for 36 hours with my GI bug... she did talk me off the edge and she even showed me the bean! I was 6w0d and fetal pole was measuring appropriately and we could see the heartbeat going. Such a relief in the short term.

I'm so excited and nervous! I have my first appointment at 2:30!!! This is a new ob since my last one retired after my son. I'm nervous to see twins! Every psychic I've ever seen all of my life, has told me I'm having twins... as well as my husbands! So nervous, twins scare me!
Just got back from my first appointment...saw one (and only one) bean in there, measuring exactly in line with my ovulation date, with a heart rate of 178. Due 6/16. I go back in two weeks for a Panorama blood draw, and then on 12/1 for the NT scan. This is kind of real now. DH spent his time while we were in the waiting room looking up minivan reviews online.
Had a great first appointment with my new family doctor, my husband and myself. Pulled all sorts of blood and other bodily fluids. We scheduled a dating scan for next Thursday (which should greatly help my fears!) and found out that I get the NIPT covered by insurance because I am an elderly momma. The first apt makes its all so real!!!
@delujm0, we've been saving for a minivan for a couple years ago and are hoping to purchase this spring. (We're weirdo cash only people.) From what we've read the Honda Odyssey has been rated most family friendly, aka best for carseats, for a few years now.
@BelhurstBride we're cash people too! We do have the "typical" mortgage and car loans, but than(then? whatever) that, if we can't buy it in cash...we can't buy it!
@belhurstbride haha we also pay cash for cars. Minivans are just SO expensive, I can't believe it. DH really likes the way the Chrysler looks, so I don't know how this will go. Currently I am refusing to agree to a minivan. We don't plan to have additional children after this one, and I have to commute to the city every day in whatever we wind up with. I know the space in a minivan would be nice, but I'd prefer something smaller for my commute. I have a wagon now that is good but will be tight with two back there. So I don't know what to do. An SUV would work but the gas mileage is terrible, and I commute 25 miles each way, so I know a minivan is better for that...but I'm resisting it big time. haha. DH will also need a new car - he has a smaller truck now and will need a 4-door. We're going to be spending a lot of money on cars in the next year it looks like.
@BelhurstBride cash life over here too! Parents are immigrants who bought their houses and cars cash and view interest rates as the boogeyman. I'm getting a mortgage on my house because I can't make a dollar out of 15 cents like them!
So I had my first ultrasound and appointment on Monday. Saw the baby, looked like a fuzzy blob, measuring 6 weeks 5 days. I got to the doctor appointment and she said the heart rate was low at 128, and I have a SCH, but other than that things were normal. Then today I got a call with my lab results and evidently I have hypothyroidism and was prescribed a daily medicine. Individually these things don't freak me out, but putting it all together makes me anxious. Does anyone else have these issues?
Had my one hour nurse visit today! I was so excited to finally get started with appointments. We scheduled my first visit with the doctor for next Friday. I was given my orders for routine blood work and urinalysis as well as a glucose test. I am going to try to get that done tommorow morning first thing. They also want me to get a dating ultrasound and I was able to schedule that for first thing Monday morning! I can't wait to finally have a due date! My guess is it will be around 6/12, but based on LMP it's 5/29. Anyone else doing an additional first trimester glucose test?
@mishmosh26 not this early, but I know I will have to do the glucose test early and twice even though it never shows anything, not even close. I don't even want to think about doing the glucose test during 1st trimester queasiness.
We have our first appointment this next Friday, when I'll be 8w6d according to LMP). The nurse told me they would likely not do any testing (US, heart rate, physical exam, etc. ) She said this first appointment is purely informational. Our next appointment isn't until after Thanksgiving .
I'm assuming this is considered normal, but I'm definitely jealous of everyone getting to hear heart rates etc! I also was hoping to get some sort of "everything looks ok" before telling family, which I was hoping to do around thanksgiving. Other than the positive home pregnancy test, I'm really not even convinced that I'm pregnant yet!
