Good morning ladies! DH and I are back from our trip...we had a very relaxing vacation especially since this was our last long getaway before the baby comes. I'm so excited to be at 24 weeks now and reaching viability. Have my ultrasound and OB appointment tonight and hoping all's looking well. Baby boy has been moving around and I love feeling that ping inside me every time. I anxiously wait for them when he's more quiet. He's a big foodie and is into upbeat music...he wiggles around every time I eat or when he hears loud upbeat music. It's so amusing.  Also, my shower invite went out this weekend and I'm so excited! Already got a few e-mails that something has been purchased off the registry and I feel like a stalker checking it each time to see what items have been claimed.

QOTW - The funniest reaction was from my best friend's 6 year old son. We told him I have a baby in my belly just like his mom did recently. His response was "Really?! Did you go get this baby today?!" lol. Then he made the announcement for us to some of our other friends by asking them "Do you have a baby in your belly? Well she does" and he'd point to me. The most touching response was from my sister in law. She was so emotional when she found out, which got me all emotion and I actually saw my husband tear up too for the first time. I still cry every time I watch it back.

  • I'm glad you had a great trip @Tulips29 :)

My next apt is on Thursday, no ultrasound but just a check in and my first measurement I think. We'll be 24 weeks on Friday so I'm definitely feeling that relief. Wee Boy is very active (unless Auntie A wants to feel him move and then he plays hide and seek.) He likes to wiggle around a lot when I first lay down for bed and then he settles in too. I haven't noticed any particular music that sets him off, but I sing a lot of Irish shanties in the car to him. The only time I noticed a real wiggle after food was when I had a jelly donut and then he went nuts! It was too funny.

QOTW: One of my most favorite responses to our announcement was a friend from the Festival. She is not a super close friend but she is SO excited. When I asked for her address she was like "IS THIS FOR BABY SHOWER, OMG YES!" It really is touching that non-family is so happy for us.

  • @dragonfaerie it's so fun to feel them move after certain foods. I also felt more movement after dessert this past week since I indulged on vacation and I don't usually have a lot of sweets on a regular basis. I told my husband this baby is already developing his sweet tooth. I can't wait until we can feel the movement from the outside so my husband can feel him too. He keeps asking every day but nothing yet. Although the other day I laid in bed with my hands firmly on my belly for quiet a while and I thought I felt a slight ping from the outside, but I'm not 100% sure.

  • Hi ladies... I'm 28 weeks at the middle of this week so I'm gonna post here but hope over to 3rd trimester too. Crazy to think that I'm already hitting 3rd!!! It's almost like I never thought this would get here. We are headed out to CA this weekend for our baby shower. I didn't want to travel out there later in the 3rd trimester. My mom has gone crazy planning this shower but she is so excited I've just stayed out of it and let her do her thing. No appointments until the 17th but I'm still feeling really good. Baby is moving around all of the time. He gets excited when I eat for sure and DH loves getting to feel him move. My brother's girlfriend is pregnant and they are due just 3 weeks after us and she is having a much rougher time than I am. I think she is a little bit more of a drama queen so that could be part of it but I'm super grateful that I apart from all of the hassle getting pregnant, the pregnancy itself has been pretty great.

QOTW: We have had so many people that have been supporting us through this journey that it's tough to pick 1. I think the sweetest things have been when our friends little girl likes to touch my belly or another girlfriends twins drew pictures for me.

    Happy October!

I have an OB appointment today and my anatomy scan tomorrow  You get so used to those frequent ultrasounds at the beginning so I can't believe it's been 2 whole months that I haven't seen my little girl! I can't wait!

@Drove2u Safe travels! I'm in Baltimore and the whole city is going a little nuts out here since the O's just made it to the playoffs. Be warned. LOL. I also stalk my registry, so don't feel bad!

@Tulips29 Glad you had a nice vacation! And at least you wait for the email. I literally check my registry everyday!!

@Griffin5413 Happy graduation! See you in a few weeks!

@dragonfaerie My little one does backflips when I have sugar. Which I feel like is all the time. It's like I can't even control it.

QOTW: I have a friend with a 2 1/2 year old that they're trying to get off of her "ninny". When she found out I was having a baby she told her mom "The baby can have my ninnys........... But then I'll need some new ones." I was dying! The kids reactions are the best

  • So this week I have my glucose test on Thursday so I'm a little nervous about it. I was told to have the fruit punch flavor of the drink. What was everyone's experience who has had it done?
  • Congrats to the ladies moving on to third tri! So exciting. I had my anatomy scan last week and unfortunately we found out I have a two vessel cord (instead of three). I have to go back in ten days for another ultrasound.
Other then being worried about that I am doing great. We decided on a crib and dresser so I am hoping to buy that this week- I am excited to get the nursery started.

QOTW - I can't really think of one, but everyone for the most part has been very supportive and touching. One funny thing that happened is we told my friends little girl I had a baby in my tummy (she is 22 mos) and then she pointed at her stomach and said baby? And then she told every single one of our girlfriends that was over that they had a baby in their bellies. LOL. Little kids are so funny!

  • @chicandbubbly what does the two vessel cord mean? Does it post any risks? Hoping it's nothing serious!

@ultratomato I don't have experience with this but mine will be in 2 weeks so I'd love some feedback too. From what I'm hearing the drink isn't bad, it just tastes like sweet soda. My doctor the only thing is not to eat 1 hour before the test but not to restrict your diet by much. He said a lot of people completely cut out carbs before the test and actually fail it as a result. He said to eat a well-balanced diet of proteins, veggies and carbs and just not to indulge in desserts and sugars. FX your test goes well!

I just got back from my ultrasound and OB appointment. Baby is looking good, but I was told I have complete placenta previa. I go back in 4 weeks to check on it again, but chances are slim to none that it'll change. This means I will have a scheduled c-section by 37.5-38 weeks. Which falls right in between of my birthday and DH's birthday as we're exactly a week apart. It'll be a busy month for sure!

  • @tulips29 Basically the umbilical cord usually has three vessels (two arteries and one vein) mine only has two (one artery, one vein). The risks are mainly with growth so I will have to be closely monitored. And my Dr wants to look closer at some of the organs because they sometimes can have problems because of the two vessel cord. Thank you for your support, sorry about placenta previa, I hope it moves!!

  • @chicandbubbly oh, I see. Really hoping it won't cause any problems and the baby will develop like he should! At least you will be closely monitored to make sure all is well. And thank you as well, unfortunately it doesn't look promising like this placenta will move at this point.

  • @Griffin5413 and @Drove2u congrats on graduating to 3rd trimester soon! Time is flying!

@chicandbubbly I hope the next 10 days fly by for you and you get good news at your next US. Getting the nursery set up sounds like a good distraction.

@Tulips29 When did your OB notice your placenta location? Sending positive thoughts for your next ultrasound as well.

I have my 2nd OB visit this week and I'm not sure what to expect. They probably told me, but I can't remember. They gave me so much info during that first visit. It seemed like we talked for an hour before the actual physical exam. I hope there isn't another pelvic exam because the last one was brutal (I was still sensitive from progesterone).

QOTW: Everyone we've told has been so excited for us and supportive and it makes me so emotional. We're not planning to do a formal announcement, but I'm sure once I start to show more and tell more people, it will be tough to keep my mascara on throughout the day. :)

  • @Tulips29 - I moved over from the 1st tri board last week and need to be added to your initial list above. My due date is 3/28/17 and I'm having a boy.

Been super busy with work, my DS's upcoming birthday, and life in general. Feeling OK, had a bout of a 24 hour bug or something (small fever, chills, vomiting) last night. Other than that, just tired and in that in between phase of my clothes and maternity clothes. Next ultrasound is my 19 week anatomy scan on 11/1. Need to make an appt with the nutritionist per the doctor. Other than that, chugging away and wishing March came sooner!

QOTW: Best reaction to our announcement was when we told our 5 yr DS that he was going to be a big brother to a little brother. His face lit up like it was Christmas morning and he opened the best gift. I'm a little worried that he won't have the same reaction when the baby is actually born, which is totally understandable. But he has no idea what's coming his way! ;)

  • @ultratomato - I've had the orange one which tasted like Fanta Orange soda and I've had the lemon lime (which I didn't like as much, but chugged it down like I was playing a drinking game). It tasted like Mountain Dew, which I hate! I've never had the fruit punch, but it sounds good. My suggestion is to try to dink it as fast as you can without tasting it. I see women nursing it and I'm like, "I want to get this done!" so I chug. Mind over matter. Good luck!!

  • @pdbird welcome and congratulations on your little boy! I added you to the list

@mrygoround they told me my placenta was low at 15 weeks when I had a bleeding episode and had an ultrasound to check it out. This was confirmed again at my anatomy scan at 20 weeks but I was told it was still early enough and the placenta can change it's position. Now at 24 weeks it's still low and this time I was told it's complete placenta previa and chances of it moving are slim to none, but they will check again in 4 weeks. Also found out bleeding is more common with placenta previa, the baby can kick it easier and no sex is allowed at all.

  • @ultratomato - I had the orange flavor and it really wasn't that bad. I kept mine in the fridge all day before I had to drink it and that helped alot. It does taste more like a really sweet soda. I'm not a big fruit punch fan which is why I chose that.
@Tulips29  - sorry to hear about the placenta previa. The good thing is that they are closely monitoring that and it's got to be pretty exciting to have a date of when you are actually going to meet your LO!

  • @Griffin5413 it could be worse, that's what I keep telling myself. As long as my baby is ok, that's all that matters. And you're right, if I have a scheduled c-section, I'll know exactly when I'll be meeting him so it's exciting

  • Anyone else have leg cramps? The last two nights I woke up with the worst charley horse!!! Any advice for dealing with them?

  • @chicandbubbly unfortunately I read they are common and I don't have any remedies for dealing with them. I got a charley horse 2 nights ago too and it sucked. Last night I woke myself up stretching my legs out and almost got one again so I quickly stopped. Not sure if there's a way to stop them.

  • @chicandbubbly @Tulips29 Oh my gosh, those stupid Charlie horses! I got one in both legs a few nights ago from stretching in my sleep, talk about a rude awakening! Potassium/magnesium are supposed to help with cramping, but I'm not sure if we are allowed to take extra. So eat bananas! :) Stretching before bed has helped me when I remember to do it. I've also read that drawing circles with your toes both directions throughout the day just helps with blood flow.

  • I realized I never checked in this week, everything is going good, knock on all the wood, it's been a week since any blood!!! Saturday will be 26 weeks and I'm starting to relax, I think we may even make the announcement to our extended group of friends that do not yet know!

I have been getting the Charlie horses too, and the mostly happen while I'm stretching in bed. So not fun. There is usually a dog or two sleeping on my legs at that time as well. Bananas are the way to go I hear. And water.

Qoft: we have been waiting for this for so long and our close friends a family knew when we would be hearing our beta results, so we have not really had any out of the ordinary reactions, but everyone has been so supportive it's been awesome!

  • @chicandbubbly I think you may need to drink more water if you are getting the leg cramps or Charlie horses. Also eat a banana that may help too
  • Hey @Tulips29! I am 14 weeks today (yay!!!!!) and would like to be added to the board. My EDD is 4/6/17 and we are having a little girl!

It's so great to see so many familiar names on this board!

QOTD: I think the most touching response was at my RE office. My nurse from my two IVF cycles requested to be present for our ultrasound and when we saw the heartbeat she was crying as much as I was! When we got dressed and stepped out all the nurses we had worked with were there to give us hugs, several with tears in their eyes....after 2 years in their office they were genuinely so happy for us it was amazing!
