This is a weekly check-in for those in their 1st trimester: weeks 1 through the end of week 13. We've all gone through a lot to get to this point so congratulations and best of luck to all of you over the next several months!

If you are just joining us, please post a little about yourself, your EDD (if it’s not listed below) any upcoming appointments, symptoms, etc. Feel free to also share your IF journey - many of us can relate.

QOTW: When will you announce to people that you're expecting? Immediate family? Close friends? Do you have a special way to do it planned?

Hi everyone! Haven't checked in, in awhile. Doing well, hanging in there at a little over 9 weeks after my FET in August with a PGS tested embryo. Was released from my RE on Friday and currently trying to get in with a new OB.

QOTW: When will you announce to people that you're expecting? Immediate family? Close friends? Do you have a special way to do it planned? My immediate family already knows. They all knew about the FET process, so no big surprises there. A few friends also know for the same reasons. I don't plan any big reveals or announcements. I imagine people will catch on when I start looking pregnant!
  • @BornReady congrats on graduating!

Hi All! Hope you're all doing well! I graduated from the RE last week and have my first OB appt tomorrow afternoon. RE actually changed my due date to 5/3/17 since he thinks I had a late implanter. Things are looking good though, LO measured right on track last week with a heart rate of 160bpm. DH finally got to come and see and u/s. I think things are a lot more real for him now :)

QOTW: oddly enough, we didn't tell any family this time around. We want to wait until I am out of 1st trimester. However, my bff, boss and DH's bff all know already. DH wants me to wear one of those skeletal baby t-shirts since we plan to tell family near Halloween time. Nothing else big planned.

  • I have my first MFM appointment today, and I'm pretty sure he's going to do an NT scan, which will be exciting!

QOTW: When will you announce to people that you're expecting? Immediate family? Close friends? Do you have a special way to do it planned? We told our parents the day after my second beta. I told a few other people in the following weeks. I waited until 10 weeks, which was after my previous loss gestation and after my RE graduation to post a big thing on Facebook and Instagram. I'm usually very forthcoming with info in our infertility trek, but this time around I was a little more guarded because of my MMC. Luckily we have so many family and friends praying/sending good vibes for us! We still haven't revealed the trio, but plan to tell our parents first on 10/16 with greeting cards that I'm going to edit to reflect 3 new babies. I'm thinking we'll probably wait until later in October to do a FB/Insta trio announcement.

  • @ale9687 Cute announcement! And I was thinking we'd get to see them for a looooooong time (at least compared to how long we usually get to see them). Though it may just be an initial consult, and I'll have to go back within the next two weeks for the NT, which would suck!

  • Hey guys! I'm exactly 9 weeks today. Muy next ultrasound was scheduled for 10/10 with the regular ob, but hubs wanted one more before then so we are going to the RE this Wednesday. I'm looking forward to seeing little bit again.

As for telling people, some of my friends know and some of my family. I am telling my dad this Wednesday provided everything still looks good. He worries a lot, so I didn't want to tell him too early. We will announce to everybody else at the beginning of November with a Thankful Thanksgiving type announcement.

  • Congrats @Knottie36622473 on the good results and having a baby girl!

We have our NT scan Wednesday morning, we did PGD testing so we know no chromosomal abnormalities, but my understanding is that it can alert to other congenital issues like heart defects as well....and it's a chance to see her again:)

QOTD: I told my mom/sister the week after our beta because they came to visit from Canada and I announced it by giving my adorable 2 yr old niece a shirt that says "Best. Cousin. Ever" (which is now her favorite "nightie" since she is not allowed to wear it yet). I waited to tell my dad/stepmom until 9week ultrasound showed everything ok....my dad has been bursting at the seams to tell the rest of the family and doesn't understand why not. My besties knew right after the beta and I had to tell my tech at work as I work with anesthesia/xrays etc and I need to make sure that I am safe at work....telling my manager if all is well on NT scan on Thursday!

  • @2legbaby It is pretty amazing, and I am thankful that we get to see them often. That sounds about right for a typical singleton, low-risk pregnancy. I would be the same way if only one had taken. I bet it is going to be hard to resist! Now that I've had an abdominal scan and know where to look for all three, it's going to be hard to not use my doppler too often!

  • Well we will be 6 weeks on Thursday and having our second US Friday to hear the heartbeat. We have never gotten a heartbeat so this is a big step.

QOTW: When will you announce to people that you're expecting? Most likely we will tell the family first at Thanksgiving Dinner when we say Grace, this way both sides of the family are there. Then text or FaceTime to close friends and famil.  Do you have a special way to do it planned? There's so many ways but I think my husband will say what he is "Thankful for" and video to see people's reaction. The family won't see it coming cuz we told them we are doing another retrieval in OCt/Nov.

  • @PNW12RN I understand wanting to stay on the infertility board. I tried the first trimester board, and even though I'm pregnant it hurt my heart. . . a whole bunch of "I'm so blessed we just started trying and I got pregnant the first time" posters. I just can't deal with it even now. Plus they aren't as understanding of all the questions and fears I have. When you've been through what we have, it is hard to be anything more than cautiously optimistic.

@clt2pwm11 I agree with you. I tried the April BMB and its so catty sometimes, you can't start a board with a specific question and if you draw too much attention to yourself they call you AW.

  • Is anyone taking Synthroid for thyroid regulation? My nurse told me that taking my prenatal too close to the time I take my Synthroid could effect the absorption. She recommended I take my prenatal @ 3pm and Synthroid @ 7am... wondering if any of y'all have had any experience with this? I've been taking my prenatal around 5pm... should be enough time in between, right?!

QOTW:  Pretty much everyone in my life knows at this point.  We were very open about going through IVF so lots of people asked, and I didn't lie.

@babylonghorn16 I take my synthroid in the morning and my prenatal at night to make it easy.  I had heard if you take something close to the synthroid it can reduce its effectiveness.

    @mrygoround congrats on graduating!

  • @babylonghorn16 I take my Synthroid 6 am every day and my prenatals around 8 pm. You're supposed to take the Synthroid first thing upon waking and drink plenty of water with it but nothing else for at least an hour.
  • I also take Synthroid @babylonghorn16

I take mine at about 5:15am, then go back to bed until 7am then I wait until after im home in the evening for the prenatal!

Your supposed to give synthroid time to absorb like @ale9687 said, Im paranoid so I like that hr+ leeway before eating or drinking etc! and I chose to take the prenatals later because the ones I used to take made me sick so Id take them before bed! I take a different kind now, but its just become habit

  • Hello Ladies! This is my first week without a doctor's appointment. I see my OB next week for the first time. I thought I was feeling okay about it, but last night I had some cramping and I got worried. It was a lot of discomfort in one spot. I almost wish I could have a little check in to make sure all is well.

QOTW- I'm showing faster than many women, so I announced at work last week. My close family and friends already knew.  I sent out pictures of onesies with different sayings like- #1 Auntie or I Lobe My Grandma.  Everyone loved that.  I'm starting to let associates and distant family know. I probably won't make a Facebook announcement until the winter or spring.

9 weeks this week for me! It's already starting to fly by! Like @ADRIANAC1982 I'm taking meds for my ms and it's making a huge difference! I haven't felt sick in over a week (touch wood). I have been extremely tired and the bathroom breaks have increased which only really bothers me at night.

    QOTW:
We told our parents after our second beta came back and once they knew we started telling siblings and close friends. Only after our 8 wk ultrasound we started telling our extended family. No plans for a big announcement, I'm just going to let everyone find out as we go along.

  • Hey everyone! Happy last week of September!

Im 12 weeks..officially 13 weeks on Thursday this week. I've felt some light cramping, kinda pulling sensations this week...no bleeding though. Anyone else have those sensations?

QOTW - we told our parents, siblings, and a few friends after our positive betas.

Both of our employers we told around 6 weeks.

We just told the only set of great grandparents when we were 10 weeks and showed them an ultrasound.

as for announcing to everyone else and on social media we will do that at 14 weeks. My next ob appt is right at 14 weeks and we will do our NIPT big blood test to check for any chromosomal abnormalities and the sex. We have a cute photo we will use with just our feet, both of our fur babies feet, and a pair of baby toms! SO Cute!
  • We just had our 9w ultrasound and unfortunately one of the twins did not continue growing. We could hardly see it anymore, it had already started "degenerating" as the doc so charmingly said.
I know that this "vanishing twin syndrome" is apparently quite common and normal, but I was so convinced after we saw both heartbeats at 7w that the twins would be fine and I was so excited about having both. I am utterly devastated and can't really be as happy as I should be about the amazing heartbeat of baby number 2 we got to hear. My doc was happy because he says a single pregnancy is much safer and he prefers it this way. I know we should be counting our blessings and be grateful that one of them made it so far, but it's still so hard...
Sorry to be debbie downer today but needed to share ...

  • @flanners1 I am so sorry that you lost a twin. In your heart, you were ready to being two home and now that had changed. It is perfectly normal and natural to feel sad and to grieve this loss. I hope you are able to find a way to cope with the loss but still move forward in hope and preparation for the precious baby you do have.

  • @flanners1 Losing a child is always devastating, no matter how many were there or when the loss occurred.  I'm so sorry to read your post.  You have every right to grieve the loss. I hope your family will be supportive.

@sunflower5678 I have a ton of cramping and pulling sensations.  I just tell myself it's the baby stretching out.

  • @flanners1 Oh no, I'm so sorry to hear your news! I can imagine how you feel, as I worry every time I go about seeing all my babes growing properly. And poo on your doctor for saying he prefers only one. What a rude, insensitive thing to say! Who cares what he prefers, they are your babies! Doesn't matter what he likes!

  • @flanners1 I'm so sorry to hear this. Take all the time you need to heal over the loss of one of your babies.

@sunflower5678 I have cramping and pulling and such strange things going on as well. I think things are just stretching and moving.
  • @Sunflower5678 same pulling and stretching sensations for me! Yesterday it felt like I had done an ab workout... which is laughable bc I barely have enough energy to walk up a flight of stairs lol. I try not to read too much into these twinges... I have no idea how it feels to be pregnant, so I'm just assuming all of this is normal! (which sounds like a good assumption based on everyone else's replies!).

@flanners1 I'm so sorry. You have every right to feel sad. I can't imagine how you feel and am struggling with the words. Just know you are in my T&P!

@clt2pwm11 aw yay!!! I LOVE seeing a wiggly baby on u/s! It's so amazing! And I know what you mean about bursting to tell everyone... I've let it slip to more people than I probably should have. :)
