Beta Testing August 2016

Re: Beta Testing August 2016

  • @Happydays13 Welcome to the group! I do my PIO in the AM as well! I usually wake up DH once everything is ready and I've iced for about 2 min. Then he administers and I jump in the shower - my version of a heating pad. I do a bunch of donkey kicks in the shower and walk in place to get the muscle warm so the oil gets absorbed evenly. I'm terrified of lumps forming :). How was administering yourself??

  • Welcome @Happydays13! I am an evening PIOer but I'm not sure why. I'd say it's probably because they call in the afternoon with med adjustments. I hope your upcoming transfer goes well!

AFM - We're t-minus 3 hours until scheduled transfer time! Yesterdays HCG shot has been oh so fun. NOT! Lucky me, I get to be super nauseous! Ugh!

About 2ww: so far, I've found a show that is on the CW called Beauty and the Beast that I've been bingeing on Netflix. It's quite interesting; beauty (Catherine) is a cop and beast (Vincent) was experimented on by the government while in Afghanistan to be a better/faster/stronger soldier. I'm still holding out hope that they'll get together because yay romance! Also, boys in tv shows/movies/books can be really dumb sometimes.

  • Loading the player...
  • I loved that show! I binged on Netflix too but lost interest around season 3/4.
  • @AandDM2014 Good luck today!  Glad you've found good TV to watch... that makes all the difference.  And by the way, what's slacklining?

@babylonghorn16  I like the PIO  system you've got going on. I think donkey kicks are a great idea, and I'm sure the shower feels great.  DH has been massaging the area.  I don't have lumps, but I do have a heck of a lot of soreness!

AFM- I had my transfer yesterday at 12:45.  Apparently I took the full bladder very seriously, and it was almost overfull. They transferred two, and I have before and during pictures.  The nurse, doctor and tech were all super positive, and I was cracking jokes.  I had an awesome Valium nap, watched Chelsea Handler and Grace and Frankie and vegged out.  I'm back at work today, and it's coming fast and furious.   The TWW is the worst!

  • @gatorlorit yes, the soreness is REAL. Other than that, I haven't had much trouble!

@AandDM2014 you're the 2nd person that has talked about a HCG shot before FET. I don't think that's part of my protocol... I wonder why? Did they explain the reasoning behind the HCG?

  • Happy Thursday, everyone! One week down, one more to go!

I am with you, @Isthisthereallife - it feels like time is crawling.

I have a busy weekend, so hopefully that will help keep things moving along. I have to go to a training class for Rotary on Saturday morning and will carpool with a couple of friends, then I would really like to see Ghostbusters that evening. On Sunday, we are going to do some maintenance around the house... I daydream about selling, but it would take a bit of work to get it ready, so maybe this will be the first step! Hope all of you are doing well!

  • @gatorlorit Slacklining is kinda like tight rope walking. You set up a 2 inch wide nylon rope type thing between two fixed objects, such as poles or trees, then try to walk on it. Good people can do tricks, but I can barely balance. It's still fun though! Somehow, even though I was careful to stay yesterday and this morning, my bladder was once again completely empty, so I had to drink nearly 64 ounces of water before the transfer. They almost had to use a catheter to fill my bladder, but decided not to.

@babylonghorn16 I'm not sure why they give it, but I'm assuming it's to help the embryos because my body already thinks there HCG coursing through my veins. I've done it for every FET.

@fivetimesnoluck Hopefully your weekend is a welcome distraction! Thanks for the good luck. Transfer went well and embies were looking beautiful!

Man, I am just wiped out from this transfer. I feel as though I could sleep for 20 hours! Hopefully DH makes lunch before I fall asleep!

@babylonghorn16 AHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!! So exciting!! Though I'm assuming you'll get results way before me. My clinic seems to like to wait as long as possible to call, and I'm on the west coast, double bummer. Oh wait, mine is on the 7th... Oops, I just remembered that.

  • @babylonghorn16 - that pic is fantastic!! Congrats on being PUPO :-)

@babylonghorn16 and @AandDM2014 - no hcg trigger for my FET either...not sure what the differences are with protocols that do.

my first PIO went well and second is tomorrow.  I'm currently at the beach with my mom and two sisters for a quick overnight visit to distract me/celebrate transfer on Monday, and one sister REALLY wants to give me the shot ;-)

Lao exciting to see so many betas coming up this week! Hope there are BFPs for all of you!  Mine will be 8/10 after an 8/1 transfer.

  • @Happydays13 You are braver than I if you let an untrained, unproven person do your shot! Especially a PIO shot, where you have to be so precise and follow the procedure exactly. After some quick, unhelpful googling, it seems that doing an HCG shot may help give the lining a head start and therefore give the embies a head start. But who knows!

AFM - My sentence has almost been served! Just a few more hours before I can do something other than lay/sit! Then I'm going to an ice cream party this afternoon. Yay distractions!

  • @ale9687 and @cmm012 You guys must be so excited with your betas just two days away! I go in for my halfway check in two days, then beta is a week from today! I'm glad I don't have to wait a full two weeks, though everyone thinks I do. I haven't told anyone (yet) this time around when our beta is, just in case it's bad news.

Oh Dr. Google. Anyone else have problems with him? I find it so hard not to search for every little thing I feel, or what should be happening on this day with the embryos.

  • @babylonghorn16 I'm surprised your level check is so soon after your transfer. Mine has always been 5 days after, though they check on transfer day too, so if yours doesn't maybe that's why you go in sooner.

@ale9687 Oh my gosh!! I hope you get excellent news at your beta! Yay for +hpt! I'm still not crazy enough to use hpts. I have such horrid luck with them that they just stress me out too much to even think about buying any. I'm glad I only have a few cheapies left that have never turned positive, so I know not to even think about using them! The ladies on here and DH are the only ones so far who know. I didn't even tell my parents or in laws. My mom thinks its 2 weeks from transfer date, though by then I'll have had two if my first one is positive. I feel more scared this time since last time we had a loss, and I don't want to share too early, just in case.

@Happydays13 LOL! My ice cream party was fun. I was good and limited myself since I'm not supposed to have too much sugar. I felt I was within a reasonable amount, especially based on the bowls I saw other people had! Good luck tomorrow!! A movie marathon sounds like fun, especially with DH! My DH mostly hides upstairs while my mom is here. He's such a goober sometimes, though I know he does work a lot, so maybe that's what he's doing, not hiding.

Ugh, still so long until beta! I should hopefully have results in exactly 7 days. I'm not sure what time they usually call on Sundays, as it's been a long, long time since I've needed a call on a Sunday. I do have to let them know though that if the beta is positive they need to call in a refill for my estradiol right away because I only have enough pills to last until Saturday evening, and I don't want a whole new prescription if it's negative, as I won't need to take any of them.

  • @happydays13 that's so nice your dh could switch with someone and lounge around with you!

@aanddm2014 I only had a hpt left because I had to take one before my suppression check as a precaution. I told my mom that insurance approval didn't come in for me to do a July cycle so my parents think I'll be starting everything in August. I feel bad lying but I also want to have that buffer so I can make sure everything's okay before I tell them anything.
  • cmm012cmm012 member
Hi all. Thanks for the thoughts. I am looking forward to my beta on Tuesday. I've been testing 2 times per day since I bought a bulk pack of hpts online a while ago. Lines are still there, but the darkness varies each time. I'll be happy to get some betas. No more hpts after my batch runs out. I have 5 more I think.

congrats to the other ladies who have positives!

  • @ale9687 I agree that lying can be a bit hard, but for my followers I've just stretched the truth a bit. I told them I'd be a bit vague this time around, and that I would have a transfer by the end of July and get beta results within the first two weeks of August. I do plan to share once I get news, but if I get a positive beta I'll definitely try to wait until after the second one before sharing.

@cmm012 Yet another reason I hated using anything other than a digital test! I much preferred the definitive "pregnant" or "not pregnant" over "does this look darker to you dear".

Oh ugh, these PIO are really kicking my butt this time around (haha!). I bought a little massager in the hopes that it would help, and so far I can't tell if it is or not (I have only used it twice, for about 3 minutes on each side each time).

  • @aanddm2014  I've also had a hard time with PIO this round! Saturday was rough, so my DH  brought out the big guns to make it better-  he made me a small Nutella milkshake.   Please let me know  if that massager helps things,

@cmm012  Congratulations for the darkening lines!   I know tomorrow can't get here soon enough!

@ale9687  congratulations on the positive HPT!   I can't wait to hear it confirmed tomorrow.  I totally also understand what you mean about being purposefully vague.  I think it's a protection mechanism, and I think you have to do what works for you.

@babylonghorn16- looks like we are beta buddies!

This TWW is killing me!  Today is day 5.  My office doesn't do it on Saturday or Sunday, so I have to wait until day 12.  I'm not known for my patience, so this is  interesting   My DH and his parents were doing yard work all weekend, and kept telling me to go lay down, get some sleep, and  watch TV.  I know I'm doing what I need to do by taking it easy, but sitting on the sidelines is tough for me.   I'm also extremely tired this time- not sure I remember that from last time.  Am hoping its a good sign!

  • Hi everyone!  Came over from the June/July IVF.  I updated the sheet with my beta being 8/15, but I will start testing Friday...I can't wait!  One fresh 4AA was transferred yesterday.  I'm lucky I get the suppositories so that I don't have to do those AWFUL shots :(  The dr. said one of the eggs fertilized naturally (not sure what that means exactly).  Does that mean it's better quality?  I'm going to have a chat with the nurse later today.  Good luck to all!!
  • @ale9687 and @cmm012 can't wait for good news from y'all tomorrow!!

@gatorlorit beta buddies!!! I am also having a hard time sitting it out. My husband did yard work all weekend and I felt so bad not helping! I kept myself busy with some decorating... but yeah, it's been hard! All for a good cause though!

@ashley3740 not sure if natural fertilization mean better quality or not... not sure why some people do natural instead of ICSI. We did ICSI with all of ours. You are brave to test on your own! I'm too scared! GL!!

@AandDM2014 hope your massager starts working!

AFM - I'm going pretty nuts over here. Symptom spotting. Slight cramping, sore boobs, and really vivid dreams. I'm sure this is all the progesterone's fault, but it's hard not to wonder! I'm cutting out coffee this time around, but had to do a cup of decaf this morning to keep me sane... it was disgusting lol! Whoever drinks that stuff for fun is nuts! How is everyone else doing? Anyone else modifying diet/caffeine intake??

  • @babylonghorn16 the dreams are crazy right? I'm glad it's not just me. I've always remembered my dreams but they have been so bizarre lately.
  • @gatorlorit So far, nothing, though I can't feel the lumps in the current laying/sitting position I'm in. And UGH for having to wait until day 12! That sucks!! I too am feeling quite a bit tired this time around, so lets hope it's a great sign for both of us!

@ashley3740 Welcome! I personally would much rather have the shots than the horrid, extremely painful, worst I've ever had UTI that I got from the one time I did suppositories. I'm extra prone to getting them anyway, so having it be moist in my undies all day was NOT a good idea! Did you do any with ICSI? If so, they may mean that that naturally fertilized egg didn't get ICSI. Hopefully your nurse has answers for you!

@babylonghorn16 in reply to your comment to ashley, we did half and half, because we don't have any MFI, my doc wanted to see, for future fresh cycles, if we could skip ICSI. We had about the same fertilization rate with both (6 with natural and 7 with ICSI), so if there is a next time we don't have to spend the extra $$$ on ICSI. Also, I too hope my massager starts working! You're too funny about your coffee habits! I personally loathe coffee, even the smell of it. If DH has some and then wants to make out/have sexy times, he has to brush his teeth twice! I don't usually drink much caffeine, just if I have a tea that has it, but I bought some caffeine free tea bags so I don't even have to think about whether I can have them or not. Because of having PCOS I've made some diet changes over the past few months (cutting WAY down on sugar and carbs), so I haven't had a full can/bottle of soda to myself in months. If I buy DH a really tasty one, he'll drink almost all of it, and leave like 2 or 3 sips for me, but he's been just drinking it all recently, so I don't have to be tempted. I'm also trying to eat at least two eggs every day. I read somewhere that eggs are good for a pre pregnancy/pregnancy diet, so I've been eating them like crazy!

AFM - I feel like I've definitely been spot symptom aware. I feel as though my appetite has increased, which is good because I've actually lost a little bit more weight than I would have liked to before transfer, and last time around I ended up losing about 2 pounds between transfer and first u/s, which I would like to not do this time at my current weight. I've also been sleeping longer, which is thanks to the room darkening curtains I put up last week (we have blinds, but they came with the house and were poorly measured/old). We have a light that shines right in our bedroom window all night, and I have a tough time sleeping with too much light, and I finally found curtains I like and hung them up. Both DH and I have been sleeping better and longer since.

So much luck to our testers tomorrow @ale9687 and @cmm012!!!!! I'm keeping my FX for high betas!

  • @babylonghorn16 - the only time i've actually drank decaf is at dunkins or starbucks, and there's enough other flavors and syrups and all the "froo-froo" stuff that mostly mask the horrible flavor! lol!
  • @AandDM2014 arg! I wish I would've known abt doing half natural, half ICSI! We have no issues w/ MFI either. Just me :). Wonder why my RE didn't mention? Oh well - I don't think we will have to do again (thankfully), so I guess it doesn't matter. Would've liked to have known though! Glad you are sleeping better!!

@ale9687 that gives me hope that you got a BFP and are having a similar symptom! I seriously woke up this morning and spent a couple minutes thinking about if my dreams were real or not... SO VIVID. I've always had crazy dreams though and probably too early for symptoms... but for now, I'll chalk it up as a good thing!
