Commute from Howell to Hoboken with a family?

We used to live in Freehold and the commute could be 2 hours in/2home... We are looking for a new house but houses seem to have sky rocketed price wise in northern Monmouth. Anyone ever do the commute from Howell with kids/family at home? Is it doable or is it route 9 again? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

Howell may actually be better than freehold because you could take the parkway to 195/exit98
