IUI called off because of too many target follicles?

Has this happened to anyone else? I'm on my 3rd IUI cycle, and I produced 6 large follicles on 50 mg of Clomid so my doctor decided proceeding with the IUI would be too risky. I get why that was necessary, but it's nevertheless crushing because I'm traveling for work next month and won't be able to try again next cycle. I'm also just confused as to what my body is doing: I'm 37, and my first month of IUI I took 100 mg of Clomid and only made one target follicle. The Clomid gave me cysts, so I had to take the next cycle off and then a second cycle off for work-travel. With my second IUI last month I took 50 mg of Clomid and made two target follicles. Now on my third try I suddenly have six on the same dose? It's so frustrating having no control over this stuff!
