@CooCoo4u, I haven't tried acupuncture but this will be my 2nd cycle coming up as well and was thinking of adding it into my treatment plan as well. I think at the very least it could be very relaxing. Fingers crossed on your 2nd round.
@Starlight811 hopefully round 4 is your cycle and you won't even need to go to IVF. My sister's RE told her her ovaries were that of a 48yr old (she's 32) but he told her he's confident injectables will work for her. Fingers crossed for you.
AFM I went in on Friday for my baseline US and they found cysts on my left ovary. So I am on BCP for this month. I had a mini breakdown yesterday that round 2 will be delayed a month, but I booked a last minute cruise with DH in two weeks to take our mind off things. Hopefully this will be what my body needs and it will be all ready for round 2!
Just got AF yesterday (IUI #1). I am hoping the Dr. will ok me to get an ultrasound on CD 11 (that I will have a monster of a Folli), will be allowed to trigger, and get a IUI #2 on CD 13....because we are off to EU for CD 14-23 and I would really love to not have April be a wasted TTC month. If nothing else I am hoping she oks giving me a trigger and TI.
We have been TTC for about 19 months and 11 cycles. I am on Meteformin 2000 to help create mature folliles, go to acupuncture, aromatherapy (probably very hokey), vitamins, Letrozole/Fermera 5mg CD 3-7 to create mature follies, Trigger shots to O, and then IUI #2 hopefully to get things as close to home as possible.
I live about 4 hours (2 hours both ways) to my Dr...for ultrasounds and such. So a lot of what I do is only slightly monitored (with one ultrasound a cycle etc).

MMD1986 It's not cheap $80 or so per time. I am not sure if it is worth it or not...but one of the months I stopped taking Meteformin and didn't do acupuncture I couldn't get mature follies...so it is cheaper for me to do acupuncture than have a wasted cycle and ultrasound.
A cheaper option might be to see if you have community acupuncture anywhere near you...its the concept of working on people's feet, hands, and other non exposing areas so multiple people in a large room can be worked on at the same time. We have community acupuncture in our area 2 times a week and its just first come first serve and only $25 per person.

@BecauseLove They didn't offer to let us see the sperm under the microscope last time, but it was on a Sunday so it might be different during the week. They did offer to let DH push down the plunger to release the sperm but he wasn't comfortable doing it. I did get to see the follies during my ultrasound, which was pretty cool! I didn't see my uterus this time, but I saw it on my first cycle ultrasound.
LadyMillil I feel like I have learned so much more about my body after seeing the ultrasounds (uterus and ovaries and follicles) and the usual TTC. Seriously I had no clue about some of this in the detail I now know. I wouldn't have wanted my husband to push the syringe either...no extra reason to worry about error.

Howdy! I just joined the infertility board and wanted to jump on over here and say hi. I'm doing my first IUI this month. I took my last dose of letrozole (femera) on 3/31. I'm currently using OPK, waiting for my LH surge to get my IUI scheduled. Hoping it's before the weekend, since my OB/GYNs office isn't open on Sat/Sun If I detect the surge on Sunday, they'll do the IUI on Monday, so Saturday is really the only day I'm hoping to avoid! I know a lot of people advise against doing IUI at an OB/GYNs office... wish I would've discovered this sooner so I could've gotten into the RE sooner, but I've got an appointment scheduled for the end of this month. So hopefully I'll only be doing 1 cycle of IUI at the OB...

Went in for an ultrasound this morning, they said I have some cysts leftover from last month. They have me taking birth control for the next two weeks, hoping that clears everything up and I'm good to start letrozole on the 18th. Really hoping I'm not out this month.
@MMD1986 hearing I had cysts made me more upset than my bfn. Hopefully yours clear up ASAP and you can get back on track.
@Monica54321 welcome to the board. I didn't even know ob's do iui's. I think the most important thing is if they monitor your while taking the femera to make sure you don't over stim or don't get a cyst.
Hi everyone! I'm onto IUI #3. we changed meds from clomid to gonal-f to see if we can get a couple more eggs. We are also doing a back to back. Fingers crossed that this time it works! @ale9687 - Unfortunately, my OB isn't doing any monitoring. She said the risk of overstimulation with letrozole is less than clomid, so monitoring wasn't necessary.... I wasn't overly thrilled with that answer, so I'm glad I was able to get an appointment with an RE for later in the month, just in case this first IUI doesn't take. I am wondering now about the risk for cysts, especially with my PCOS & history of cysts. I hadn't thought to ask about that!

I'm kinda nervous about the IUI procedure itself. How does it compare to an HSG test? Seems like it would be similar - but I'm really hoping not. My HSG test was a nightmare... took almost 10 minutes and 2 different doctors to get the catheter in, which was EXTREMELY painful.

My doc confirmed that Wednesday is the day. I only have 1 mature follicle, so we'll see. @Monica54321 is the HSG test the one with the saline & bubbles? If so, I had that last week and it was the worst pain I have ever experienced. I didn't have DH go with me, because they were like "it's not that bad". Umm...pure awfulness!!!!! I could barely walk out of there. So while IUI is uncomfortable it is so much better than that!
@monica54321 no comparison. At most you may have slight cramping with IUI, but the last one I didn't even feel.
Hi ladies, I may be joining you in a couple days. I had a negative beta again today and my dr wanted us to come in for a follow up appt to discuss different options. I'm not sure if he's thinking IUI again with different stim meds, or moving onto IVF. So I'll either be here or in IVF, but I'll still lurk here either way to see how my March IUI buddies are doing

Well I'm out for this cycle....RE switched me to clomid this time and it worked too well....before on letrozole I only had 1 follicle most cycles....1 cycle 2 follicles...but on Saturday's follicle check US I had 10!!! So I am on strict physician orders for NO Intercourse until AF arrives....my RE scared DH so bad with 10 kids he won't touch me for weeks....lol but I'm hopeful that we found the right med....now just getting the right dose....AF is expected on 4/20 so we might be able to squeeze IUI at end of month....GL to everyone else this month!!
Onto this month's iui last month canceled for no follicular growth. Cd1 was supposed to be yesterday from stopping birthcontrol last Wednesday and there is no sign except for a constant headache. Tomorrow morning i go for baseline scan and blood work so we will see what's going to happen.

Today is a little more normal but still not 'full flow'. Would I consider today CD1? Or keep waiting? This is very a-typical for me. I just don't want to miss my CD3 timeframe!

Who all is doing progesterone after their IUI? My OB hasn't mentioned it. I'm curious if it's standard or just varies by doctor.
My doc already prescribed the progesterone for post IUI. I think it is her standard.

My RE says if you need/fill a pad or tampon that's CD1
@LeFemmeViolette this is my second IUI. If the IF diagnosis means IUI has the potential to be successful, my RE recommends trying 3 times before moving to IVF.

I think that is the route my RE goes as well...really hoping on of my next two IUI's works because IVF is so expensive and insurance covers nothing fertility wise for me, plus there is a waiting list.
Moving over to April IUI from March. Fingers crossed that IUI #2 works! Starting Femara tomorrow, but I am going to take it at night this time to see if I have less side effects. Good Luck everyone!

@CooCoo4u, I haven't tried acupuncture but this will be my 2nd cycle coming up as well and was thinking of adding it into my treatment plan as well. I think at the very least it could be very relaxing. Fingers crossed on your 2nd round.
@Starlight811 hopefully round 4 is your cycle and you won't even need to go to IVF. My sister's RE told her her ovaries were that of a 48yr old (she's 32) but he told her he's confident injectables will work for her. Fingers crossed for you.
AFM I went in on Friday for my baseline US and they found cysts on my left ovary. So I am on BCP for this month. I had a mini breakdown yesterday that round 2 will be delayed a month, but I booked a last minute cruise with DH in two weeks to take our mind off things. Hopefully this will be what my body needs and it will be all ready for round 2!
We have been TTC for about 19 months and 11 cycles. I am on Meteformin 2000 to help create mature folliles, go to acupuncture, aromatherapy (probably very hokey), vitamins, Letrozole/Fermera 5mg CD 3-7 to create mature follies, Trigger shots to O, and then IUI #2 hopefully to get things as close to home as possible.
I live about 4 hours (2 hours both ways) to my Dr...for ultrasounds and such. So a lot of what I do is only slightly monitored (with one ultrasound a cycle etc).

AFM, u/s today showed two growing follies-14 and 12, one on each side. Going back on Tuesday for another check--hoping for some growth!!!!!!
A cheaper option might be to see if you have community acupuncture anywhere near you...its the concept of working on people's feet, hands, and other non exposing areas so multiple people in a large room can be worked on at the same time. We have community acupuncture in our area 2 times a week and its just first come first serve and only $25 per person.

I did get to see the follies during my ultrasound, which was pretty cool! I didn't see my uterus this time, but I saw it on my first cycle ultrasound.
I wouldn't have wanted my husband to push the syringe either...no extra reason to worry about error.

@Monica54321 welcome to the board. I didn't even know ob's do iui's. I think the most important thing is if they monitor your while taking the femera to make sure you don't over stim or don't get a cyst.

@ale9687 - Unfortunately, my OB isn't doing any monitoring. She said the risk of overstimulation with letrozole is less than clomid, so monitoring wasn't necessary.... I wasn't overly thrilled with that answer, so I'm glad I was able to get an appointment with an RE for later in the month, just in case this first IUI doesn't take. I am wondering now about the risk for cysts, especially with my PCOS & history of cysts. I hadn't thought to ask about that!
