Re: 2 Vessel Cord aka SUA and GD

  • There is an existing thread for GD on this board. I'm sure you'll find a lot of support there, as well as answers to any specific questions.

As for the 2 vessels, I haven't seen that one come up here but I believe in the high risk board there is a thread about it that mentions the experiences of several ladies.
  • Lurking from March. One of my twins has a SUA and I was diagnosed with GD at 27 weeks. I'll be 36 weeks on Saturday and so far my GD has been controlled by diet and exercise. I've been having weekly NST scans and he seems to be as healthy as can be. I have a c-section scheduled for the 26th since both boys are breeched.

  • I have an SUA- was diagnosed at maybe 16 weeks? I go in for monthly growth scans, which have been progressing well. Currently baby is measuring in the 85th percentile at 32 weeks. My doctor seems to think I am in the 80% of people for whom it isn't an issue.

My understanding is that, absent other markers, it tends to be pretty harmless but they want to keep any eye on you. What did the doctor tell you?

    No experience with GD.
  • SUA baby here. I was referred to a high risk OB and only saw them once. Since everything else looked fine they said my regular OB could monitor with regular growth scans. My regular OB hasn't done anymore growth scans since I was 20ish weeks and I'm 30 weeks now. I get one in 2 weeks at 32 weeks. Both doctors seem to think it's no big deal so I haven't worried over it too much!
  • I have a midwife and planning a homebirth thx for responses but really looking for someone with both diagnosis's :(
had one growth scan on 4th but apparently everything is ok so far , have appt with an ob on 26th. Not sure if going get any more monitoring .
  • My 2 year old had SUA and everything was fine. We had frequent ultrasounds and NSTs. She was born 8lb 15oz and she's been always a tad bigger and taller than most babies her age.

  • We found out at 28 weeks that our LO had a SUA. We've been once to a specialist, will return for a followup next wednesday. Other than he was a little small, everything else looked fine. I'm trying not to worry over this but we know how much easier that's said than done..
  • I have SUA diagnosed at the 20 week scan. So far no problems. My OB is not concerned at all and called it a "theoretical risk". And we get extra scans which is kind of cool. She's measuring fine. I don't have GD but isn't there a worry about big babies with GD? With SUA they are worried about small babies (theoretically according to my OB). Having both may not be an added issue? I don't know, just an unscientific risk. I'd worry most about getting good nutrition and keeping the GD in check. Good luck!
