January IUI

Well I thought I was going to just barely make the December IUI board but it looks like I'm going to trigger tomorrow and have our IUI on Friday.
Anyone else having their IUIs the first week of the year?
Hopefully this is a good sign for things to come in 2016! Happy New Year everyone!

Re: January IUI

  • @Mando15 Is this your first one? What dosage of letrozole are you on?

I'm not having my IUI this week but it will be sometime in January. AF should be here by the weekend.

I will be talking to my RE about changing my dosage or allowing me to take letrozole for a longer period of time. I was on 5mg and on CD11 I only had one follicle and it was 17.9cm. The next closest one was 15.6. I have been kicking myself because I didn't speak up for myself and I know better since I work in healthcare. My other concern is that I got a positive OPK 24 hours after the trigger however my IUI wasn't until 36 hours after.

Do I have valid points or do I sound impatient and ready to be pregnant TODAY?

  • @PCOSbaby the opks just let you know about lh surge which means you're about to ovulate. So the timing was right.

  • Hi ladies, i am hoping to have my iui sometime in January. If this group is for the entire January, i would like to join. GL with your IUI @Mando15 !!
  • @PCOSbaby this will be my 2nd IUI. I am currently taking 5mg of Letrozol days 3-7 and then I start adding follistim injections days 8 and on until my follicles are ready. At my last appointment two days ago, CD14, my follicles were still only a 14mm and 12mm. They are super slow growers. But that could be because my RE has me take a small dose of follistim each night (50ml) because she doesn't want to draw out too many dominant follicles.
Going in this morning to see if they are over 18mm and ready to trigger. If so, we'll be back bright and early New Year's Day. My RE is one of the IUI only 24 hours after trigger and I'm starting to question it. Guess we'll wait and see and this one turns out.
Good luck to everyone else and their upcoming January cycles!

Hi ladies! I am so glad you made this group. We are doing our first IUI in Jan- probably will be mid month depending on if I O earlier or not with Letrozole...If you have taken Letrozole before did your O day change? Usuallly I O late around day 18-20. I am currently on 5 mg of Letrozole days 3-7 as well. Go luck to you all and @mando15 I hope it goes well for you today!

Happy New Year, hoping we all have a very Happy 2016

  • Well my follicles still weren't quite ready today. I had an 18 & 15. RE gave me one more night on follistim. My DH will give me trigger tomorrow morning and we'll go in for IUI Saturday AM. Hoping this is our cycle!!! Happy New Year and go Sparty! :)

  • Hey @Mando15 it sounds like we are on the exact same cycle plan with 5 mg letrozole and then 50 mg of follistim. Jan 2016 should be my second iui on this plan. After my first iui at the beginning of November I got a cyst which has not yet resolved. I just got the go ahead today to go off BC as it is not helping with the cyst. They are just going to aspirated it at my
  • We'll do IUI #3 this month. I had my base u/s yesterday and go for my mid-cycle next Thursday. My numbers were ok enough to do IUI #1 in November and improved last month so I'm hoping they keep going up and this is the month for us. If not, we'll move on to IVF.

    GL to everyone!!!
  • Ladies I need help! I iui#6 is scheduled for monday but my opk's are getting lighter which means I'll ovulate in the next 24-36 hrs. Should I cancel my appt? I've attached a pic for you as well. The top is this morning, middle is afternoon and bottom was 30 minutes ago.

I would call your nurse's line or email your doctor this question.  If you did a medicated cycle I believe that can mess with at home ovulation tests.  Also, call me crazy but none of those look like positive tests to me.  The test line needs to be just as dark or darker than the control line.  And exactly how faded the test line is really just has to do with how concentrated your urine was.

  • I think I'm joining the January IUI group! I'm new to the Bump and new to all things infertility. I just started my first round of Clomid -- I'm going on CD 6, but 3rd day of pills as my doc started me on 100mg on Day 4. I've had all my tests and my FSH is low and my DH has 1% morphology, but good motility and count. Not sure if IUI is going to work, but hopeful. My friend who has been through so much (1 child, several MC and 6 round of IVF) told me to at least do IUI first and then go to IVF since it's so invasive. I'm a bit nervous for all of this, so wanted to check in with others. Anyway... wish me blessings! xoxo.

Now I am taking provera to induce AF, i am looking forward to AF and get my cycle started:) then the plan is to get letrozole and trigger for iui #2.
I had Novirel instead of Ovidrel last cycle and the doctor said they are all the same. I guess pregnyl should be similar as well. @PCOSbaby
  • Hi, I am new to this string.  I had my first IUI on 12/30.  I did letrozole + menapur and then ovidrel.  I have had a pain in my left ovary since I started the letrozole.  I also had a HSG on 12/4. Anyone else have this pain?  The IUI was 3 days ago.

Good luck to everyone this month!!

    #3: 3rd IUI 2/16 & 2/17 back-to-back IUIs- Femara + Gonal-F + Ovidrel (5 mature follicles but lower donor sperm count)
  • Hi! I'm starting IUI #2 this month. (IUI #1 clomid/ovidril--- bfn) we are using letrozole and triggering with ovidril. Currently on cd12 and so far I have one dominat follicle on the left at 21mm and some smaller ones on the right (maybe 12 & 11?)
Is it normal to have just one mature follicle after taking letrozole? (5mg X 5 days)
    Potentially triggering tomorrow!
    Good luck to everyone!
  • @MurphyGrace during my iui cycle , i had pain in my ovaries throughout tww but the dr didnot think that it is too important as long as it is not too sharp and he asked me if i have any pain during urination but i didnot. If your pain worries you, you can contact your doctor.
@Nina7236 you are supposed to get one mature follicle with letrozole, sometimes people get more than one but doctors do not really want that I think.
GL and FX with your cycles !!!
  • @Nina7236 Yes, you're supposed to have one dominant follicle with letrozole. High five for such a great follie!

I hope I have one that big. Last month my dominant one was 17.8 before I triggered the next day. I wish it was larger even though 18 is considered mature.

  • I just received a phone call from my clinic. my new insurance has started on Jan1st and apparently now they do not cover any infertility treatments. Everything was covered before and there is no way for us to pay any of the treatments out of pocket. I am devastated , I was so excited to start my new IUI cycle. It feels like there was the hope of getting pregnant, and this stupid place I work for took that away from me.
I am at work but cannot stop crying and do not even care what people think of me. So, I think I will be away from here for sometime . I hope we can figure something out.

@Tulips29, did you get a progesterone count 7 dpiui?  I just got mine today and so far I do not have to go on progesterone.  Do not be discouraged about your results 10 dpiui.  I agree with ZoeFer, it is still too early.

  • @Zoefer, have you considered a grant or loan?  Lots of fertility clinics will offer these or give you credit if you do volunteer work elsewhere. If all else fails there are loans for fertility.  OR, Prosper has real low rates now.  Do not be deterred!  Try talking to your RE. I imagine several patients at the clinic are in the same boat.  I am in a state that doesn't cover anything either so I feel your pain.
