This morning I nursed my two month old daughter in bed as I usually do. She sleeps in her crib overnight (my husband is a heavy sleeper, he'd squish her in under 10 minutes!), but I do her first feeding of the morning in bed after he's already up.
Lately I've been stressing about going back to work, leaving her with a sitter, my low milk supply and her corresponding slow weight gain, guilt over having to supplement after trying so hard to EBF, all in addition to the sink full of dishes and floors in need of vacuuming.
As she drifted back off to sleep after her morning meal, I just stared at her little content sleepy face, all blinky as she begins to snooze for a little bit longer before we start our day. I forgot about all the daily stresses and just soaked up her cuteness and thought about how lucky my little family really is.
It's a tie! 1) When my little guy first wakes up (at a reasonable hour) and is just so smiley and happy. I love his gummy grins and giggles. and 2) When he first drifts off to sleep in my arms with rosy cheeks from nursing. Sleeping babies are so dang precious. Gets me every time.
We have a similar moment in the mornings. My daughter is almost 3 months old but we've only had her from 7 weeks old on so we're still settling into a new routine. In the mornings my husband feeds her her first bottle and then brings her to me in bed where we stay and cuddle and catch up on news and the internet for about another hour before getting up to start our day. Sometimes she snoozes, sometimes she just sits and coos at me and we talk to the dogs and snuggle.
I don't really have maternity leave but I am allowed to work from home, so that hour in the morning is about all we get for totally uninterrupted time together until the early afternoon when we do tummy time together. I love it.
I love the morning feeding too. He is very smiley in the morning and sometimes while nursing we make eye contact and I smile and he smiles a milky smile and then goes back to nursing. Also love the bed time feedings
