Question for first RE appointment

Did anyone take cycle charts with them to their first RE meeting? Did your doctor actually look at them and take them into consideration, or did they basically ignore them in favor of their own testing process?

I just printed mine out to take with me tomorrow, and I was curious what other people's experiences have been.

Re: Question for first RE appointment

I have learned that every RE goes about things different.  I think it's better to have everything just in case you need it.  Good luck at your appointment :)

I don't think it hurts to have them, but whether he/she takes them into consideration all depends. Ultimately, they'll do their testing anyway, but that can give them helpful info regarding hypotheses of what might possibly be going on (on your end anyway).

When do you recommend going from your OBGYN to the RE, my OBGYN always tries to be so positive and say that even with hurdles because I'm young and healthy we should be able to get pregnant. But I'm kind of to the point where I want to acknowledge this as a problem and work with someone who deals only with fertility issues

@MrsAlyssaT  If you're questioning if it's time to see an RE then I would see an RE, especially if you have a dx already.  If your OBGYN wants to start you on fertility meds then its also time to go see an RE because you should be closely monitored when on fertility medications.

I have no previous dx and scheduled my first RE appointment after a year of trying.  If you have a dx and have been trying for more than 6 months then I might consider an RE.

My RE wanted to know the dates of my last 3 periods on their opening paperwork and that is all I provided.... they didn't ask to see my cycle charts, but I always have them in an app on my phone anyway ;)

@MrsAlyssaT my OB made the decision for me because in addition to my irregular cycles I need a surgical procedure to correct my septate uterus and she doesn't do that procedure.

I agree with PP that if you have known issues and want to see an RE I would go for it if your insurance will cover it. The general sentiment I've seen is that no one regrets seeing an RE the only wish they would have done it sooner.
