Ovulation Day Fluxuations on Fertility Friend

I started using fertility friend after i saw everyone on this board is a fan of it and this month it has been frequently changing my date of ovulation. First it was day 19 then day 21 now back to day 19. Usually I ovulate on 17 but i guess not this month. I have been having weird ovulation twinges since day 20, I've never continued to have this feeling even after i ovulate... could i have not really ovulated yet? Has anyone else experienced a change in predicted ovulation like this from the program?

Re: Ovulation Day Fluxuations on Fertility Friend

  • Are you temping? That's the only way to really know when O was.  FF "predicts" a date based on your estimated cycle length until you start putting more data into it and then it can "predict" much more accurately about the dates its expecting.

My 1st month temping I ovulated on CD 18 and last month it was CD 21.  Your O date can vary according to many things, stress, illness, etc.

It happens often.  Do you have a link to your chart? Or can you screenshot it?  The link you posted doesn't link to the chart.

ETA: Your O date probably won't be the same every month.  Mine is anywhere from CD12-CD15 usually.

Why is there an open circle on CD23 and 24?  Was your temp time different?

  • First I want to say that this question should be posted in the WTO or TWW thread. And according to FF you O'd on CD 19. so I'mo not sure why you have asked this question.

  • I would go by what FF is telling you, CD19.  Even if it was CD21, your timing is fine either way.

The open circles normally happen because you temped at a different time than normal. I would go based on what FF is saying now. It's taking into account your CM and temp fluctuations. The whole process gets somewhat easier to decipher when you have a few cycles charted :) hang in there!
  • FF probably changed your crosshairs to CD21 because you had fertile CM on CD20 and CD21, and then your temp rose again on CD22. When your temp dropped again (and the higher temps on CD22 and CD23 had open circles), FF probably changed your crosshairs back to CD19. It can be frustrating when all of our signs don't line up.

But to echo PPs, make sure you're temping consistently. And the TWW/WTO threads are great for chart stalking.

Oh yes-- I joke that FF giveth and FF taketh away. I think as long as you've humped it out during that span of about 5 days then you are good. FF operates on data over time. So as you use it, it will "get to know" your cycles. Consistency (as I've learned) is incredibly important because it makes your data accurate.

So, the short answer is yes. Its happened to me frequently.
