I'm pretty sure I have developed an allergy to the PIO shots. My injection sites are soooo itchy that I cannot leave them alone. Which, of course, has made the sites red and scaly, in addition to the normal bumps. I was holding out switching types of oil since the other kind isn't covered by insurance. We just took a major infertility financial hit having to move our embryos, so I wanted to tough it out. Wondering if anyone has had a similar experience? Advice would be great, but really hoping for some solidarity:)
Actually a bunch of ladies have been talking about this recently so you're not alone! I forget if it was on the PIO or sep/oct thread, but I'm sure they'll pipe up. Sorry PIO is being such a pain in the ass!
My butt itched so bad, I didn't think I could handle it any longer. Then my doctor told me PIO is the best and that unless I was bed ridden he wouldn't switch me off of it. He did say I could take benadryl, and that saved me! The itching went away after a couple weeks, so hopefully you'll feel some relief soon. Just keep telling yourself how worth it it'll be!
I had a similar reaction to the PIO -redness, swelling and extreme itching. Apparently it happens sometimes. My RE didn't want to take any chances and switched me from the standard sesame oil to cottonseed oil, which had to be specially compounded and ordered at a local specialty pharmacy instead of mail order with my other rx's. My OB also recommended OTC hydrocortisone cream. Good luck!
