It has rained for 6 days strait! We had 1 day of no rain, but here it is raining again! It is calling for a huge storm (hurricane, but I'm inland so...) Any how it then says for the next 5 days it will rain! I have ran out of ideas! I'm in my last trimester, migraines have been getting increasingly worse, and more frequent! Let's not even go to what my doctor says about them! Any how what do you do with your kids???
What ages are the kids? I had about 6 weeks with no car last winter (super snowy & cold) - it's tough to find stuff to do!! Esp if you're not feeling well! 1) foam shaving cream in an empty tub or craft table- bathing suits on- quick clean up & lasts longer than you'd think 2) scavenger hunt that's up to interpretation, i.e. "Something round" "something blue" etc etc 3) building forts 4) baking 5) Simon says 6) hokey pokey 7) finger paint 8) make your own playdough 9) "mystery" bag (put an object in an opaque bag have the kids guess what it is 10) pipe cleaners through a strainer 11) paint your plain wooden blocks 12) read a book like "hop on pop" & have them give you rhyming words 13) rent a movie, make a big bowl of popcorn & spread blankets all over the floor - cuddle up! 14) have the kids decorate onsies for the new baby 15) order a pizza, use paper plates & start bed time early 16) give the kids flashlights to play flashlight tag
Ok that's all I've got for now- remember this too shall pass! Don't get caught in a moment
I have an almost 2 year old and things we've tried is:
Putting finger paint in a ziplock bag and taping it to a table and letting them squish it.
Making finger paintwork applesauce so it's ok to eat and I taped a trash bag to a table and let him paint all over. (We also have a dog that helps clean up messes like this)
Put washcloths or ribbons in an empty wipe box and let them play with that.
Got a step stool and let them "wash" non breakable dishes in the sink

I sing songs like BINGO or the ABCs
I put cut up straws in an empty Parmesan shaker
Pipe cleaners stuck in a collander
Pom Pom balls sorting in a mini muffin pan
