Undescended testicle

Hi! We welcomed our baby boy into the world two weeks ago. His right testicle hasn't completely descended...if it doesn't drop on its own the urologist would like to do surgery by 6 months. I am upset about the idea.....anyone else go/going through this? :-?

1st congratulations! 2nd from what I understand it is very common for 1 or both testicles to not be descended at birth and most will drop on their own. Try not to worry about it for the next 6 months. I know the thought of surgery on a baby is upsetting but yours most likely will not need it.

My son had an undescended testicle at birth, which never did come down like it was supposed to. He had surgery when he was 12 months old. I was nervous, but of course everything went well, and he was fine. He just wanted to nurse and cuddle all day, and the day after surgery, his activity level was back to normal. Hopefully your son's will complete its descent, before intervention is needed!
