@Hopeful_mom Glad your visit went well. When and if you go for IVF just make sure the doses are higher. How long is OH going away for? Yes fresh is always better but nothing wrong with frozen as long as they get the good ones you're fine. alAs for intercourse with IUI (as long as you are using frozen speed) you should have sex the day before and day after IUI. But if it's fresh try to have him stay away from activity two to three days prior so his sperm is good and strong. We did it all the time but no luck. With IVF we made sure two to three days before, then after retrieval no sex for like two weeks (assuming you have a fresh transfer). If not then wait five days for your body to heal from retrieval and have fun till transfer. As for my three little embryos, I'm waiting still. Should be either by Friday or sometime next week. Keeping my fingers crossed.

@Hopeful_mom " I replied to your message. Also I forgot to mention we did a frozen transfer. My RE explained to me that the chances of conception are better with a frozen transfer for people with low AMH because a break in between the Retrieval and FET allows the body time to recover from all the hormones and allows the uterus a better chance to thicken to accept the embryo.

@ShayLatrice Have you had any issues with your cervix shortening too soon? Any pre-term labor? And when did you start having BH contractions?
At a previous appt my cervix was measuring over 4 cm. On Wednesday, I was having very frequent and sometimes intense contractions, so I was seen in the clinic. Babies are fine but they were a little concerned with my cervix. It was measured at 3.04 cm. They asked me to follow up in two days. Yesterday I went back and it has shortened and is now measuring at 2.5 cm. The good thing is that my cervix is not dilated. But I was still pretty scared for being only 23 weeks. I was sent directly to labor and delivery. They hooked me up to monitor the contractions. They ended up giving me some Nifedipine to help relax my uterus and slow the contractions. After a few hours I was sent home. It maybe helped a bit. But I'm still having them. I was told to be a "couch potato" this weekend. Altogether I've seen five OB docs at four different hospitals in the past several weeks and I feel like I'm just being thrown around and no one really cares. Mine is on vacation til the 10th. It's been kind of stressful! They did not mention anything about going on bedrest. The doctor even said the contractions should stop and I'm fine to go back to my normal activities after this weekend. I really don't see them stopping since I started having them at 16 weeks and they're progressively becoming more frequent! What do you think?! I'm a little worried.

@LSatturo126 Awh thanks. I have a friend that was placed on bedrest because her cervix was 2.4 cm at 22 weeks. So it's interesting how different doctors can be. I've been taking it very easy at home. Not sure what I'm going to do about work this coming week..

I didn't have any issues with my cervix shortening that worried my doctor. Because according to him the measurements are never 100% accurate. As long as it doesn't go under 2.5 cm you should be ok according to the standards my doctor has told me. But yes, I did end up in the hospital at 25 weeks because I was having contractions. Had a freak accident where we went to visit friends and the bed fell at 2am in the morning. Because I had a partial placenta previa it caused me to bleed and I ended up in the hospital for 3 days. They gave me steroids in the event I ended up in pre-term labor and something to stop the contractions. I'm surprised they sent you home though, because if you were actively still having contractions they should've admitted you.
I will say with twins you can start having braxton hicks way earlier than with a singleton. Here is the explanation I got from my high risks doc: Your body doesn't know there are 2 babies in there, all it knows is that your uterus is measuring a certain size. So, while you might only be 22 weeks, your uterus could be measuring 28 weeks. My braxton hicks started around 22/23 weeks and the further along I've gotten the more intense they've gotten and the more frequent. The normal when you are pregnant with one baby, is if you have more than 6 in an hour call your doctor, but with twins that standard doesn't fit so well so my doc made me pay attention more to fetal movement and to check for changes in my discharge.
When it comes to your pregnancy... defer to your high risk doc over your OB because they really are more thorough. When I initially called my OB's office and told them I had blood in my underwear they told me to relax and put my feet up... but I didn't feel right so I called my high risk doc and they told me to get to the ER ASAP. I got there and they sent me straight to labor and delivery and I was admitted so they could stop the contractions.
At 22 weeks you don't wanna be wondering. Stay on their heads, because babies haven't even developed surfactant in their lungs so they can start practice breathing to be prepared for outside breathing. That doesn't happen until about 25 weeks. These are your babies, so if you don't think you are getting the care you need DEMAND it! The next week after I was in the hospital I had to see my high risk doc, they needed to do ultrasounds and measurements. the sonographer came in with this "trainee" and the trainee was going to be doing my ultrasound and she asked me if I was ok with that... I said NO. I'm not. With all that just went on, I don't need anyone who doesn't know what they are doing, I don't feel like being practiced on so I would prefer a tech who has experience and knows what they are looking for. They both were offended so I walked out the room went to my doc and told him to send someone else in the room who wasn't easily offended and knows what they are doing because these are MY babies and MY body and I don't owe them any explanation for how I expect my services to go.

@Hopeful_mom I wouldn't let the fresh/frozen debate stress you out. Your doc should make the best decision for you. This was the best decision for me based on my hormone levels. Because my uterus lining was way to thin to do a fresh transfer 5 days later, the embryo wouldn't have had a chance to stick.
This was my first transfer and it was only 1 egg which did split.
Also, don't feel like you are wasting your eggs. The ones at 13 are really close to being mature. The trigger shot gives them a bigger boost of energy to mature... they should make you take a suppression shot like Ganirelix or something similar to keep you from ovulating.

Hi ladies how is everyone so i just wanted everyones opinion i have one try at ivf one only i cannot afford it after that what would you reccomend mini or ivf if this is a bust i have to give up on treatments a lil about me some of you already know i had fibroids removed in 2013 and endo fulgurated back than i had an amh of .39 than in 2015 my amh was .43 and most recent was .39 so seem like .39 is the accurate one the good thing it is hasnt dropped my tubes have been clear and no fibroids polyps i just am so confused on what to do its pretty much this or never i just want to make the best decision what do you guys think? --
@Hoping4Success I really don't know what the best decision for you would be. My AMH was 0.39 as well and my doc never even mentioned mini for me. My only option with that AMH level per her was IVF. I would def discuss your concerns with your doc in detail so you all can work together to come up with the best plan for you.

Well ladies just got the call,,, only 1 of the 3 were normal. So now we officially have 2 healthy embryos (one from 3/29 retrieval and one from 6/17 retreival). Not the "greatest" news because we really thought we would have two from that round. But It's ok though. At this point I'll be happy with one or twins. Just want a baby of our own and it will all be worth it soon.

@ShayLatrice Thank you so much! I currently don't have a high risk doc, just my regular OB. I will ask about getting a high risk doc at my appt tomorrow. I really feel like I should be having one! They are setting me up with weekly phone appts where a high risk RN will check in with me regarding contractions, etc. I'll be 24 weeks on Friday, so they won't start that program til then. I have realized that you really have to watch out for yourself because most docs go with the "singleton" way because that's what they know best. Also, it's just a job for them, not their own babies. Very different!

@Hoping4Success I agree, I would definitely have this discussion with your doctor to figure out which is best for you. My AMH level was 0.49 almost a year ago and the only option that was mentioned to me was regular IVF.

@Hoping4Success I did mini ivf and it worked but we only got 3 eggs and only 1 made it to day 5. I would def talk to you dr and look at the pros and cons of each.

I'm actually upset for you that they didn't set you up with one. 1st it is an IVF pregnancy and second it is twins...phone appts with a RN are not acceptable at all!! Someone needs to see you... once I hit 24 weeks I was seeing someone every week and my OB works hand in hand with my high risk doc. It pisses me off to think they are being so passive about your pregnancy... especially knowing the statistics of pre-term labor and complications with twin pregnancies.

@wenikilina I agree with others. I am seeing a high risk Dr solely bc of ivf. I only have 1 baby and I'm under 35 but they are watching me like a hawk.

having a rough time as the g-ds just weren't with me and my OH didn't make it back for our IUI and I didn't have a frozen on reserve to do it. To go through all the drugs, u/s and to be so let down I'm just beyond. Circumstances were unforeseen but I'm still so angry!!
Work is very stressful so I'm wondering if I should try one more IUI before ivf....this is just so hard. I literally have done 4 rounds of Clomid and only got the chance at one IUI day after trigger so I wonder if I didn't give it the fair shake. And my insurance covers nothing for ivf but helps a lil with IUI. It's all so upsetting!!!

Hi Ladies!! I really appreciate all of the support. Thank you. So I have some updates. Yesterday I had my follow up appointment with another new OB doctor. She was so thorough, I loved her. She was shocked at how much had fallen through the cracks with my care. I have switched so she is now my doctor! My cervix was measured again, and it continues to shorten. It is now 2.23 cm and showing some funneling (internal dilation). Externally, my cervix is still closed. She said she does not want me going any shorter than this! She has taken me off of work for the remainder of my pregnancy and placed me on "modified bedrest." She doesn't want me up on my feet all day, but she also does not want me in bed all day. I am to be taking 20mg of Nifedipine every 6 hours, likely through 32-34 weeks, to help stop the contractions. The goal is to stop them altogether for now. I've also been prescribed nightly Progesterone vaginal suppositories to help stop my cervix from shortening even more. My focus now is to keep these babies in as long as possible! And rest, rest, rest. I'm 24 weeks exactly today, so the first goal is to get to 28 weeks. After that, the goal will be to make it two more weeks each time. Although it is still scary and stressful, I feel much better knowing that we now have a plan and I am in good hands. I have also been referred to a high risk doctor. I should be hearing from them soon to set up an appt. They will meet with me and do a thorough check and decide if they want to continue to see me or if I am fine with just a regular OB. I have to say that I feel 100 times more comfortable with my new doctor. Such a relief!

At a previous appt my cervix was measuring over 4 cm. On Wednesday, I was having very frequent
and sometimes intense contractions, so I was seen in the clinic. Babies are fine but they were a little concerned with my cervix. It was measured at 3.04 cm. They asked me to follow up in two days. Yesterday I went back and it has shortened and is now measuring at 2.5 cm. The good thing is that my cervix is not dilated. But I was still pretty scared for being only 23 weeks. I was sent directly to labor and delivery. They hooked me up to monitor the contractions. They ended up giving me some Nifedipine to help relax my uterus and slow the contractions. After a few hours I was sent home. It maybe helped a bit. But I'm still having them. I was told to be a "couch potato" this weekend.
Altogether I've seen five OB docs at four different hospitals in the past several weeks and I feel like I'm just being thrown around and no one really cares. Mine is on vacation til the 10th. It's been kind of stressful! They did not mention anything about going on bedrest. The doctor even said the contractions should stop and I'm fine to go back to my normal activities after this weekend. I really don't see them stopping since I started having them at 16 weeks and they're progressively becoming more frequent! What do you think?! I'm a little worried.

@ShayLatrice that's very I stressing on the frozen part, dr always said fresh is best so it will be interesting what she has to say. Have my appt this week to learn more and trying one more IUI I think. Hope ur feeling great amazing ur girls will be here soon!! Was this ur first ivf? I will say with twins you can start having braxton hicks way earlier than with a singleton. Here is the explanation I got from my high risks doc: Your body doesn't know there are 2 babies in there, all it knows is that your uterus is measuring a certain size. So, while you might only be 22 weeks, your uterus could be measuring 28 weeks. My braxton hicks started around 22/23 weeks and the further along I've gotten the more intense they've gotten and the more frequent. The normal when you are pregnant with one baby, is if you have more than 6 in an hour call your doctor, but with twins that standard doesn't fit so well so my doc made me pay attention more to fetal movement and to check for changes in my discharge.
When it comes to your pregnancy... defer to your high risk doc over your OB because they really are more thorough. When I initially called my OB's office and told them I had blood in my underwear they told me to relax and put my feet up... but I didn't feel right so I called my high risk doc and they told me to get to the ER ASAP. I got there and they sent me straight to labor and delivery and I was admitted so they could stop the contractions.
At 22 weeks you don't wanna be wondering. Stay on their heads, because babies haven't even developed surfactant in their lungs so they can start practice breathing to be prepared for outside breathing. That doesn't happen until about 25 weeks. These are your babies, so if you don't think you are getting the care you need DEMAND it! The next week after I was in the hospital I had to see my high risk doc, they needed to do ultrasounds and measurements. the sonographer came in with this "trainee" and the trainee was going to be doing my ultrasound and she asked me if I was ok with that... I said NO. I'm not. With all that just went on, I don't need anyone who doesn't know what they are doing, I don't feel like being practiced on so I would prefer a tech who has experience and knows what they are looking for. They both were offended so I walked out the room went to my doc and told him to send someone else in the room who wasn't easily offended and knows what they are doing because these are MY babies and MY body and I don't owe them any explanation for how I expect my services to go.

This was my first transfer and it was only 1 egg which did split.
Also, don't feel like you are wasting your eggs. The ones at 13 are really close to being mature. The trigger shot gives them a bigger boost of energy to mature... they should make you take a suppression shot like Ganirelix or something similar to keep you from ovulating.

9/2016: 3rd ivf cycle-cancelled due to early ovulation
Oct./Nov 2016: 4th ivf cycle- EPP-AFC:5, retrieved 10, 10 mature, 8 fertilized with ICSI, 6 blastocysts biopsied and frozen. 3 CCS normal embryos

2/2/17: first u/s, heartbeat of 107 at 6w1d

having a rough time as the g-ds just weren't with me and my OH didn't make it back for our IUI and I didn't have a frozen on reserve to do it. To go through all the drugs, u/s and to be so let down I'm just beyond. Circumstances were unforeseen but I'm still so angry!!
Work is very stressful so I'm wondering if I should try one more IUI before ivf....this is just so hard. I literally have done 4 rounds of Clomid and only got the chance at one IUI day after trigger so I wonder if I didn't give it the fair shake. And my insurance covers nothing for ivf but helps a lil with IUI. It's all so upsetting!!!
@wenikilina glad ur feeling a bit better and happy ull be seeing ur dr. Don't take any chances!!!
@ShayLatrice PS my dr asked if a student could sit in and I said NO. I was a lik caught of guard and was already upset that I had to go to this appt by myself. I felt like an emotional wreck I really need a student to see all that!!

I'm so sorry that you didn't get to have your IUI. But if you know your husbands going to be gone a lot you may just have to freeze his samples since he won't be able to attend. I'm so frustrated for you,,, going through all those meds and then for nothing. I'm sorry you have to go through all that. Sending hugs your way!
Married my best friend in 2013 (I was 33), After 1.5yrs of TTC got my first BFP naturally on 2/7/15 but ended in DNC on 4/14/15, not viable. In 2015 I was 35...Found out I had only one working ovary, which was DOR, with scar tissue and I ovulated at 7 days, with a small cervix opening and a tilted uterus... Needing an RE was a must.....IUI#1 Sept 2015,,, BFN IUI#2 Oct 2015,,,BFN IUI#3 Dec 2015,,BFN IVF#1 2/1/16- BFN IVF# on 3/29/16 retrieval only - 1 healthy chromosome tested embryo. IVF#3 retrieval 4/23/16- 0 healthy embryos. IVF#4 retrieval 6/17/16- 1 healthy embryo. FET#1-Transferred Both Healthy Embryos on 9/6/16 BFP!! 9/15/16 Beta 22.3, 9/17/16 Beta 60.5 & 9/19/16 Beta 195! 1st US on 9/23/16, only 1 Gast Sac & Yolk Sac found, US 9/30/16 US 6wk 1day saw and heard Heartbeat 120bpm!! EDD 5/25/2017 Had a healthy baby girl via CSection on 5/18/17 8lbs 15oz.
My cervix was measured again, and it continues to shorten. It is now 2.23 cm and showing some funneling (internal dilation). Externally, my cervix is still closed. She said she does not want me going any shorter than this! She has taken me off of work for the remainder of my pregnancy and placed me on "modified bedrest." She doesn't want me up on my feet all day, but she also does not want me in bed all day. I am to be taking 20mg of Nifedipine every 6 hours, likely through 32-34 weeks, to help stop the contractions. The goal is to stop them altogether for now. I've also been prescribed nightly Progesterone vaginal suppositories to help stop my cervix from shortening even more. My focus now is to keep these babies in as long as possible! And rest, rest, rest. I'm 24 weeks exactly today, so the first goal is to get to 28 weeks. After that, the goal will be to make it two more weeks each time. Although it is still scary and stressful, I feel much better knowing that we now have a plan and I am in good hands. I have also been referred to a high risk doctor. I should be hearing from them soon to set up an appt. They will meet with me and do a thorough check and decide if they want to continue to see me or if I am fine with just a regular OB. I have to say that I feel 100 times more comfortable with my new doctor. Such a relief!
