My mom is going to be driving my 2.5 yo home from school a few times a week. She drives an older VW bug. Currently my daughter is rear facing in my car, but i'm willing to go forward facing in my moms car bc it is not going to be that often. But I need a good car seat that will fit in the 2 door bug. Any suggestions? I don't want to spend a lot of money on it bc she won't be in it that often but it needs to be safe. Thanks!

Check out Babies R Us. They let you try the demo seats in your car. Cosco, Wal Mart have cheaper seats as well. I have heard lots of good things about them. They range from $30-50 or so (less than $100). They just don't have all the bells and whistles other seats do.
I have a VW Beetle as well and yes it's hard to do a rear facing seat but depending on your child's age you might want to continue RF. That's up to you and I'm not going to push any rear facing advice, just mentioning it.
Cosco seats are pretty inexpensive and that's what we bought my mom to keep in her car.
