Re: TTTC Checkin - 08/24/2015

  • Question of the Week:   What is your TV watching guilty pleasure? I don't really watch much TV. So I guess if you're talking actual TV.. then football. I do watch Netflix though and right now I am watching Supernatural, and re-watching Prison Break DH and I are watching Sons of Anarchy. We don't pay for TV because we feel it's a waste of money and we don't really have time to watch TV.

How is everyone doing this week?

    Me: 31

    DH: 29, SA - Great

    Married: June 12,2011

    TTC #1: 1/2014

    Diagnosis: Hypothalamic Amenorrhea

Treatment: Clomid:  50mg, 100mg, 150mg - not successful and not monitored

                      Menopur 75ml (upped to 112.5ml), Ovidrel, & IUI  IUI #1 8/31/2015

    9/15/2015: BFP HCG - 400, 9/17/2015: HCG - 827, 9/21/2015 - HCG 3,327!
    Heartbeat 10/2/2015: 118bpm

  • Welcome to the checkin @Osteoblastic

@Cupcakegal930 I've been thinking about you this week and I hope that you're doing okay...

I've fallen off of the 'getting healthy' wagon and I hoping to pull it together this week.  I had a checkup and was told that my vitamin D is very, very low.  I've been taking a supplement but clearly it's not enough.  Low D has been associated with infertility so I'm taking this very seriously.

QOTW: I watch Real Housewives of New York.  I have no idea why I'm obsessed with it because I always end up pissed off at someone on the show when it's over!

  • I had a rough week emotionally. I finally had some fertile quality cm and it was the first time in a year we didn't try. I know we are doing the right thing to wait until we get some test results back before trying again but it just felt like it was such a waste. Starting at the end of sept through the end of February DH will be away and it feels like we were throwing an opportunity away. But the silver lining if there is one is that if I am right AF should come in two weeks and we can schedule the SIS. If that comes back clear we are jumping back in with both feet and can hopefully get one last cycle in before the traveling starts.

My tv guilty pleasure right now is project runway and love it or list it.

  • QOTW: don't watch much TV here either, but if I do, I love cooking competition shows with my favourite being MasterChef and Chopped.

Update of the week....I got my BFP!!! I absolutely still can't believe it, despite the ridiculous of POAS I did over the weekend. HCG is at 81 13dpiui, and going back on Wednesday.

FX to everyone here! I hope you get your BFP ASAP!
  • I went on Thursday last week for monitoring after first round of clomid and there was 1 follicle but it was only 8mm which per the doctor is small for where I was in my cycle. He said he anticipates I will ovulate this week so my cycle is probably a week late. He said I should be calling him in 3 weeks with either a BFP or because AF came. He said if AF comes he wants to up the clomid to 100 from 50.

QOTW: Right now I am into The Last Ship. I am obsessed with The Walking Dead and can't wait for the return!!!
  • @LauraNick2010 I love The Walking Dead too! When I watch it though, I am never current since we don't have TV. We always have to wait for it to come on Netflix and that takes FOREVER!  Are you seeing an OB or a RE?

@KidShrink Congrats again. So happy for you!:)

  • @lauranick201 - Every week I am like "Man, The Last Ship is SO TERRIBLE, but I CAN'T STOP WATCHING IT." Eric Dane. Blue Steel.

QOTW: I tape all of the original series on SyFy and then sit in bed with a bottle of wine and watch them on "Jocelyn Friday Night."

@kidshrink and @krbjoy SQUEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have been cheering for you both so hard. SO FREAKIN HAPPY FOR YOU GUYS!

I'm not in a very good place, tbh. I had a great stim round for a DOR girl, and then our embryos looked great. All five fertilized. Four made it to day three and all were 8 cell A or B grade. We put three in on day three and froze the last one. I was feeling cautiously optimistic that somewhere in there was a good viable one since they looked so good. My uterus and lining were perfect on transfer day. Then, 8 hours after my transfer, shit hit the fan with some family stuff I won't bore you with. But it was essentially 3 straight days of high drama and stress and almost no sleep for me and there really wasn't anyway to shield me from it. I know the popular refrain on these boards is that there's no link between stress and fertility and women get pregnant in concentration camps yada yada yada. But frankly I just don't buy it. We know stress impacts everything about your health so why would fertility be different? So during the days when my body needed to be at its best it was at its worst. Exhausted and emotional. I feel like we just cut our chances down so dramatically. And I'm angry at my DH's family for being such lousy selfish people. I know you're not out until you're out, but I also know that I kind of just know, you know? I'm already on to plan B and interviewing egg donors.

But I am consoling myself by making the world's most awesome playroom for my daughter. It helps me keep in perspective how lucky we were to just get one. And hearing kidshrink and krbjoy's good news actually makes me feel better since my real wish is for everybody on here to snuggle their baby!

  • @jnissa Oh man, thank you so much! You got me crying over here. It's not a hard task these days I guess. I know how stressful family can be. Mine is ridiculous. I've had to avoid them as much as possible through all of this. I know I don't know the situation that you were in, but I am really pissed that these people put you through such stress to have you doubting yourself so much right now. I also know I can't say anything to make you feel better about it. Just know that I am and have been cheering for you as well!! I really hope you're wrong and that one of those 3 beautiful embryos sticks!! Hugs! Keep us posted please.

  • @jnissa what I wanted to say was said wonderfully by @krbjoy. That really is terrible, and I completely understand your mood and feelings about it. Hopefully looking at the timing will help you feel better. If you've been able to destress or remove yourself from that drama after the 3 straight days of drama, you're likely essentially 5 or 6 "dpo," so implantation attempts probably have not occurred yet or are just starting. Hopefully the drama is gone or subsided enough that you can now relax and focus on you during the implantation frame and beyond. I wish nothing but the best for you, and I have faith this will be your month! I'm rooting so hard for you!

  • Hi ladies -

We are once again in a holding pattern.. Spoke to my RE the day after our BFN last week and he still didn't have the report on anything and he was going on vacation that day so we just sit and wait.  He did say that he wants my DH re-checked by his Urologist because he believes his numbers are not getting better at all, so we have that appointment this week.  We are lucky enough to have insurance for this however this round coming up will be our last one covered by insurance.  My RE did say he was going to up all of my meds this time around in hopes of getting more eggs.  We are holding off until October so my body can get a chance to relax a little and during this time I plan on exercising more and eating healthier... We have also started the process of looking into adoption, I'm the type of person that needs to know all the facts in advance so it just makes me feel better to know that I have other options out there.

@goldenkeys thanks so much for your concern, it was a tough week last week but we made it through!  My vit D was in the gutter as well and my RE gave me a sample of Theralogix Thera-D rapid repletion, I took it along with what was in my pre-natal and ate a lot of green leafy veggies and it worked.. It's an online company Theralogix and well worth looking up!

    @kidshrink CONGRATS!!! Wonderful news!!

@krbjoy VERY Exciting!  So great to see 2 BFP's this week!

@jnissa please please please don't be hard on yourself.. 2 days after my transfer my DH and I got into the biggest fight we have had in our marriage to date.. and I beat myself up over the stress I put myself through.. After talking to our RE about it, he assured me that it wasn't the fight that caused the BFN..Sometimes I still don't want to believe him because it's easier to be angry at ourselves.. Don't count yourself out..**HUGS**

QOTW - Bachelor in Paradise.. ugh there I said it lol.  I have though spent an extreme amount of time lately binge watching Blue Bloods from season one.. I'm almost caught up for the new season to start!

  • Hi all, waiting to O in round 4 of clomid over here. If this round fails we'll move to clomid +IUI which frankly might be a bit of a relief because this timing intercourse thing is getting a little old - it doesn't feel spontaneous or sexy to be on a regimented schedule!

@cupcakegal930...ugh me too! I have a horrible addiction to all things bachelor, bachelor in paradise, etc. I hate that it's such a huge waste of time and yet I just can't stop watching.

@jnissa so sorry to hear you've had such a tough time...family can be so detrimental to our well-being sometimes. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

@krbjoy and @KidShrink - congrats!! It's so great to hear about BFPs...gives us all hope :)
  • @riveridgional I have fries who watch Pretty Little Liars too, so you aren't the only one!

@jnissa I am so sorry you're having a hard time. That's terrible! It's too bad you can't just shut yourselves up and cut his family off at certain times. haha I agree that stress affects fertility. It affects everything else! Plus physical stress affects it so why would, don't emotional stress?

@Cupcakegal930 I've started to look into adoption from time to time too to get an idea of how to go,about it and stuff. We will definitely adopt if it comes to that. There are so many children out there that need love and a roof over their heads. I hope you get a BFP with that last one though. I will be keeping my fx for you!

@graphicgranite Good luck with this round of Clomid. I'd think after three failed rounds they'd have gone to IUI already. Are you seeing an Ob or RE? Fx for you that this is the one!! :)

  • I totally understand @graphicgranite. I am over here waiting to O as well (round 1 Clomid 50) and we've been trying to do it every other day this week because that's what our Dr. recommended. It is unsexy. He comes home and I'm like, "hey we should probably high five our privates." It's totally unsexy, like you said. I'm a tad frustrated because I haven't O-ed and I'm an emotional wreck. I cry at Randy Travis songs these days. As a teacher, I worry that if I'm bumped up to 100 or more of Clomid, I will cry constantly, and that's weird for students. I need to keep my emotional game together for them. But I've been practicing Yoga on the regular the past 2 weeks and it is really helping with stress. I feel little twinges in my side, which maybe is a good thing? Maybe that means I will O soon? Time will tell. In the meantime, I've been dreaming about peeing on sticks.

Had a bad eating weekend. High carb and high fat, low veggies. But, back on it Monday and today. I'm off work at 4, hoping to have enough energy to workout after... Right now I'm tired with a headache though :/

My bbt are dipping, hoping it's O and not a fake-out like happened a bunch last cycle. On day 17 already. Bought some new OPKs, I guess I'll see!

We're catching up on old Walking Dead, and I'm loving it. Gorey, but so well written and acted.

I'll read through posts once I'm done with work :p

  • Good news yesterday, the receptionist messing up my appointment so I couldn't start clomid until day 6 apparently didn't stop it from working for me. 4 follicles 17-19mm and one that was 30? My RE didn't seem bothered by the 30, just said it wouldn't be involved. So we go for the IUI today... fx for good motile numbers!

We really only watch netflix as well. Just finished a series called Lost girl last night that was fun.

@krbjoy Yay! Those are great numbers. :)

  • So, I'm expecting AF to start any minute now. I've been having cramping and back pain the last 2 hours, which is so strange since I normally start cramping about 5 minutes before AF and back pain after . I am so surprised this month at how excited I am for AF to show. I was thinking I would be devastated as moving on to injectables terrified me. bow, I'm just feeling incredibly excited and positive. This is very unlike me, and I'm secretly hoping this new outlook will make this next cycle go well! Right now, I just can't wait to make my appointment to get the ball rolling! I'm feeling this next cycle is THE cycle!
