Week has been pretty uneventful. Went out last night for first time for my 20 year HS reunion. DS did great with grandma. Hardest part was expressing enough milk to leave- took me all week :(
Pulled a total new mom move and slept in my makeup so I didn't have to redo it in the morning for church. Didn't take a shower either, so i could just brush out my hair. :) the time-saving really helped, given I had a pre- dawn drive to take DH to the airport.

I thought of that question because DH has, for years, been dreaming about getting a sportsmobile camper van. But once he started really researching and pricing, he decided to get a truck/camper combo instead. He finally got it all put together this week and I hope he's happy with his choice, since he's never really treated himself to a "fun" car, and I really want that for him.

I had a dream car - a jeep wrangler - for many years. So much fun! I kinda miss having a convertible.

  • The week was more of the same old same old. Plus I just felt more exhausted than normal in the evenings, so I didn't get much done after the kids went to bed.

We tried to be social over the weekend, meet up with some friends and do something. But no. Our 2-year-old had an epic meltdown at the aquarium around 11am because he was ready for his afternoon nap. That was fun. Plus the 3-month-old is having a growth spurt and wants to eat all the time. I hope to get to bed early, cause it's gonna be a LONG night

  • My week was OK. DS was cranky post-vax but that just lasted a day, thankfully. There were a couple of days where it seemed as though he were abducted by an alien and a calm, smiling baby were left in his place. I frantically cleaned on those days.

This may seem trivial but I've started riding shotgun while out in a car. My goal is to practice going out without DH doing the driving this coming week. I also hope to resume pumping so I can use bottles when I want to. Although, DS is getting to have a little patience if I can't feed him promptly, and I can at times top him up before going out.

QOTW: Since we're dreaming, I'll go with the Lamborghini Huracan. It's not exactly baby-friendly so it'll have to just sit around looking pretty except for brief outings.
  • My week flew by. We made more strides with nursing, but still have some lingering frustrations. DS latches on and sucks well for a few minutes, then freaks out for a while, then settles back down, latches on a gain, then freaks out more quickly, etc. I can't figure out if it's impatience with slightly slower flow, or reflux, or a bad position... but determined to get to the bottom of it!

We also had the two month shots. He was a bit more sleepy for 36 hours after them, which was actually quite nice, as he got a 5-hour stretch on one of the nights. I can't wait until that starts to happen regularly. Right now our nights start aground 8pm and look like this:  4hrs sleep - 25 min feed - 2.5hrs sleep - 15 min feed - 2hrs sleep - 15 min feed - 1hr sleep. Exhausting.  He also eats every 1.5 hours during the day (which is progress from every hour).

Otherwise, I'm mentally starting to prepare to return to work in September, and debating whether to put DS in daycare or suck it up (financially) and hire a nanny. He will be four months. We could probably hold off to five months since my mom has offered to come and help for a month, but I wonder if he'll be too small for daycare at 4 months and I'm worried he'll get sick all the time and end up with some chronic illness...

QOTW: I would LOVE to have a Tesla. One day...
  • I forgot the QOTW!

obviously since we're dreaming and things like gas mileage and practicality mean nothing, I'd go with an old Ford Bronco convertible

  • Pretty low key week. MH was on the road again all week long so I'm single parenting both girls. It sucks. But I am weaning from pumping and I am down to 3 pumps a day now which means we can do more stuff bc I'm not attached to the pump all the time. We went to the splash pad (K was terrified and didn't really want to get wet), played in the yard, went to the bookstore, library. Kind of fun. The heat now is merciless though... I'm a summer person but now having kids, I can't wait for the fall and a cool down. QOTW: I'm very boring and practical when it comes to cars, for years. I wanted a CR-V till they changed the body style = ruined it basically... Now I want the new Honda Pilot Elite. Just saw it on commercials and love the styling and features. Maybe in a couple of years we'll get a used one.

You are right, that is a very practical "dream" car! But it means you have a better chance of your dreams coming true :)

  • My week was tough.  Lost my grandmother.  She was 97, so she lived a good, long life.  Still, I'm gonna miss her tremendously.  And, I am feeling guilty for not being able to fly home for the funeral ... though LO is just two weeks today and I still recovering from the c-section, so a five-hour plane ride was not in the cards for us.

Been getting little sleep since LO is up every two hours to eat.  And then she has a tough time going back to sleep.  She hates the bassinet and never falls asleep in it.  I was sleeping on the couch and having her sleep in the pack n play bassinet, which she seems to tolerate better.  Last night was the first night I was able to sleep next to my fiance as I can finally get up into the bed without pain.  That was nice.  We moved the pack n play into the bedroom so we all slept in the same room as a family.  LO was still up every two hours and was reluctant to sleep in the bassinet (she was in the bed a few times with us), but we are working it out.

Dream car?  Hmm.  Always wanted a stingray corvette, but now a days I would love a Shelby mustand convertible.

  • I'm a little late to this week's check-in, but things have been crazy.  My parents were in town last week, which was both helpful (got lots of babysitting from them and a date night with DH!) but also frustrating (my mom seems to be a baby whisperer, which only makes me feel worse about not being able to get LO to stop crying).  I also had my six week PP visit with OB and got cleared to start working out again, so I'm super excited about that.  Hopefully that will help me to start feeling like a human being again.

This week, I am back to working - 20 hours a week from home - which has been interesting to say the least.  Trying to squeeze in 4 hours of work each day while simultaneously dealing with aforementioned screaming baby is no small task.  It doesn't help that my boss continues to make it clear that she does NOT like this arrangement, and not-so-subtly hints that she thinks I cannot/will not actually do any work during the next six weeks while I'm doing this 20-hours a week at home thing.  So frustrating.  Deep, cleansing breaths...

As for my dream car, I've never really had one.  Right now, I would be very happy with a car that was not made in 1998 and is rapidly approaching 200,000 miles.  Air conditioning in the car would be nice, too - now THAT'S a dream car!

  • @marijaa333 LO was sleeping great the last few months but just recently it has gone to hell. Sleep regression and all that jazz. Yuck.

@jerseygirl227 have you tried a rock n play? Our LO slept in one for 2months while using swaddle me sleep sacks. When we moved her to the pnp we used the halo sleep sack.

My week was ok. LO isn't sleeping great any more. I miss those nights. My oldest got braces on Monday. Which is really expensive!
Other than that we are staying inside bc it is so hot here in the south.

My dream car would be a Range Rover. They are so sleek looking.

  • @mandyreads baah, sorry to hear that! Hope you're back to a more solid sleep schedule.  We had one 7-hour stretch but are now back to 4.5 hours as the longest stretch (which is still better than 3 hrs from last week).

I keep hearing about this rock and play.  I might have to check it out.  I do have one swaddle me, but Chloe doesn't seem to like it.  I got it second-hand and I wonder if it shrunk and is too tight for her?  I dunno.  Sigh.

  • @jerseygirl227. Here's a picture of my rock n play. I actually only bought it to take on vacation last week. I have a pack n play that he's been sleeping in. Both my pack n play and my rock n play vibrate. I know they always say not to use motion or vibration for sleep so they learn to self soothe but quite honestly if it works.. I'm ok with it.

DS slept really really good in the rock n play last week. He did 5 hour stretches!!!! I thought I died and went to heaven. Lol. He would sleep 5 hours the first stretch and 3-4 the next. It was awesome

I also use white noise sometimes if I really can't get him down.
