Intro

Hi Everyone-
I have been lurking around this board so I wanted to make an introduction.  I just turned 37 and I started my first round of IVF last night.  I know this isn't the appropriate time to join your board per your rules, but I promise not to do anything insensitive-- I just feel a little freaked out by this process so it would be nice to have some support and give support as well.  A little about me:  I have a 3 and a half year old DS who I conceived naturally after 6 months of trying.  In November 2013 we started trying for a sibling and had no luck-- I went for a HPG and found a blocked tube and some scarring on the other tube.  Shortly after I had a MC and went to a RE who advised me to try IVF to avoid the issues with my tubes.  It took forever for my hormone levels to go back down after the MC and now I am finally starting everything.  I was doing well until I saw all the meds and then last night when we did the first injections I was just so nervous-- not really because of the needles, I think the whole thing just hit me at once and I panicked.  I am sorry we are all here, but it is nice to know I am not alone.  I wish you all luck and thanks in advance for your support.

Sorry for your loss and that you have to be here.  The best advice I got was to just put out one to two days worth of meds at a time where I could see them and hide everything else away in the closet.  It feels a lot more manageable that way.  Just focus on one day at a time.  Good luck on your cycle.

Welcome to the group :) I am sorry for your loss. Did they do testing to identify a cause? I know that can be helpful in anticipating other things with your current or future cycles.

I completely understand your initial freak out. I stood with the needle hovering over my skin for at least a few minutes when I first started. You will become more confident and comfortable as you go, and you will be amazed at what you can do in pursuit of this goal. Other than that, be kind to yourself through this process as much as you can.

    Keep us updated!

Welcome and good luck, I am sadly a bit of an IVF veteran, let me know if you have any questions and I can try and help :)

I agree with everyone else just take it day by day and yes put the medicines not yet needed away until use. Plus celebrate every little IVF milestone such as starting an ending a medication, appointments, ER and ET, it makes it fun to look forward to each step.

What protocol are you on, when you mentioned starting which step are you on?

    Wishing you well!!!

Thanks for your kind words!  It is a good idea to put away all of the meds and just look at what I need.  The MC could have been any number of causes, but because I have some scarring on my tube and uterus, the RE thought maybe the embryo had trouble implanting since it can't implant on scar tissue.  Last night, I started injections of Lo Dose HCG and Gonal F.  I am sorry if I get some of the names of the meds wrong.  I went for a tutorial at the doctor's office and I was shaking the whole time while I was trying to write things down.  In a few days, they will introduce a third injection-- it is called something like Garenazol?  I am also on my Synthroid (for hypothyroidism), Metformin, Co Q-10, Vitamin D, Prenatal Vitamins and I was taking DHEA until yesterday because they said it was raising my progesterone levels.  They had me on birth control leading up to the injections as well.  So, it is a lot of medicine to wrap my head around...
I truly appreciate your responses and I wish you all so much luck.  I don't know much about the process, but I am always here to listen... and I am happy to throw some optimism at all of you too!  Thanks and I am off to go hide all of the other boxes of meds... vaginal inserts, trigger shots, vaginal gel, Z-pak, more white pills... oh boy... there is a lot.

Welcome to the group! I agree with everyone else, don't think about the other meds until it's time to use them. It can be very overwhelming. Just take one day at a time and you will get the hang of what you need to do.
