Nursing to sleep

I've been nursing my daughter to sleep since birth, kind of. I wake her a bit before she goes in the crib so she's still falling asleep on her own. She doesn't need nursing to sleep at naptime. I'm wondering if there's anyone else out there who does this? The sleeping sites all tell me that I'm creating a bad habit, but isn't this how women have gotten babies to sleep for hundreds of years?
Guess I'm just looking for some validation and knowing that I'm not alone in this practice.

Re: Nursing to sleep

  • I still nurse to sleep. We may start to sleep train around 6 months and would eliminate it then probably. LO is almost 5 months.
  • I always nurse to sleep and I think it's a really good bonding experience for baby..if she's able to fall asleep on her own for nap time then I wouldn't worry about it to much :)

  • I nurse my baby girl to sleep. She loves to fight going by herself so I comfort her and nurse her so she's not rubbing her eyes or rolling in her bed for long. Nursing to sleep is so much easier!
