Breastfeeding update

so our little guy went to the dr today. Those of you who read my previous post- I was worried about my supply because of his very obvious frustration.

He was last seen when he was almost a week old and he weighed 8lbs 2oz. Today he weighed 10 lbs. so no weight gain issues. Wet diapers all the time. Pretty regular poos.

Pedi thinks he's colic. Boo!! He said I could try beefing up my supply- wouldn't hurt but he's probably colic. Just recommended herbal remedies of course.

I think I will try to beef up my supply only because I truly don't feel as full this time around as I have with my previous two kids. But I will also try colic tablets or something for him. Anyone have any great colic suggestions?

Oh no. That sounds very challenging. But you're a colic veteran right?

No experience, but I've read good things about the probiotic L Reuteri. Check out the Biogaia brand.

My DD1 was colicky and I can tell you from experience that NOTHING helped but time. I had true supply issues with her, milk never fully came in and she always needed supplementing. She always had formula available to fill her tummy. So hunger was not the issue. We tried 5 different gripe waters, gas drops etc. The first 6-7 weeks were HELL. Screaming and crying every night. It was awful. And then, as if by magic, it all ended.
I truly believe it's because their little systems are so new and immature, they have trouble handling food and all the stimuli of the outside world. And usually after a couple if months is gets better. Not sure how old your LO is, I'm on my phone. Is he past the 6w growth spurt yet? With DD1 that was the worst.
With DD2, she didn't have colic or witching hour, she was just grumpy ALL the time till about 5m old... Now (7.5m) she is the sweetest, most lovable little treasure, I could kiss her to death haha...

They need time, and barring reflux and real health issues, the best thing you can do for them is feed them, clean them and then cuddle and hold...

    Good luck!

If it makes you feel any better, colicky babies tend to be very laid-back once they're older. I know that doesn't help you now though.

Thanks ladies! I'm just not sure if he's truly colicky. He doesn't do it every day. My older son was colicky and just like harmonicbabe26... You couldn't console him. He just screamed. For hours. Every day. But also isn't doing it every day.

Yesterday he seemed better. He didn't do it today either. He's 4 weeks. He will be 5 weeks old on Tuesday.
