Endometriosis

Hi everyone. I haven't been on here recently but have really missed the support & comradere. I just have a question re. endometriosis. I had a laparoscopy 2 years ago, to remove endo. I have recently started having painful periods again & am wondering if it is starting to grow back. Has anyone had more than one laparoscopy? How long was it after your first? Thanks. Ps. I've started blogging my experiences at https://implacablyinfertile.blogspot.com.au/?m=1

I have stage 4 endemetrios, I had a surgery to remove it in 2014. 7 months later I started having painful periods again so I went back to the Dr's and my endemetrios was growing back. In fact endemetrios never goes away. It could be controlled with hormones. I started birth control and a month later I went back for a follow up and my endemetrios had gotten smaller.

Unfortunately Endo can grow back at any time. The fact that it's taken two years before you have a painful period is a good sign, at least it didn't come back right away. I haven't had two laps but I probably need another one now because things have been going down hill lately.  Have you seen a Endo specialist yet? They can really help to give you an idea of what's going on.

Thanks for your replies. Yeah, I guess I'm lucky it has taken this long. I have an appointment next week with a new obgyn/fertility specialist. I am wanting to start IVF so I've been wondering whether I need another lap first.

I didn't know I had endo until we started seeing our fertility dr and once we started IVF my endo lessened due to the birth control I was on and the Lupron. Have you tried Lupron injections before? Just a thought. Best of luck with your new dr.!

    Thanks :)

I have had two, 6 months apart and the endo was much worse the 2nd time. Endo never goes away, even after surgery as I'm sure you already know,

I have endo, diagnosed officially this past Feb. I have done a little internet research on it, and it doesn't ever go away. Husband and I haven't started TTC but I suspect it will be a bit harder than normal, and I may need another lap if I wait a few years as we have planned before trying.

Just curious if all of you have had excision removal of the endo or just lasered? If you haven't heard of excision I would look it up. I have had a total of 5 surgeries, the last 2 being excision. It doesn't allow for the current lesions to grow back after removed, but it doesn't prevent new ones from forming. The hormone suppressants such as Lupron and birth control are what keeps new implants away. However when you are TTC that is not something that you will be taking. I am currently TTC and am being monitored a couple times a month by my RE who performed my last two surgeries. I have stage 4 endo and have suffered with it for over 10 years. I didn't have any relief until I found my dr and he performed the excision surgeries. If you or anyone you know is considering having surgery to remove endo please encourage them to look into excision removal. It makes a huge difference

No I haven't heard about incision AgGal - that definitely sounds like a more effective method. I saw a new obgyn a few days ago & she wants to try the hormones to suppress the endo for 3 months before starting IVF (instead of another surgery). I'm relieved she doesn't want me to have another procedure but the pill seems like a big backward step to me!
