I wanted to do a water birth, but found out I have a marginal/Velamentous Cord Insertion so they'll need to monitor baby's HR during labor, so a water birth is no longer an option. After reading the post about how it's not uncommon for doctors to try to speed up the process unnecessarily and/or causing trauma, I'd like to have a midwife (which is what I would have had with the water birth, but was sticking with the OB staff due to the cord issue) for the birth. Has anyone had experience with a VCI or at least being able to get into squatting or "all fours" positions while being hooked up to a heart rate monitor? Thanks!
