HR- Bleeding- ER- Hematoma

I woke up this morning, and went to pee at around 10 am.. I saw blood and freaked. I am already high risk due to genetic issues. Well I was diagnosed with a threatened miscarriage and a hematoma behind my placenta. The baby is okay, I saw his/her heart beating and fluttering away and moving, so I felt better, but when I got home I did some extra reasearch into hematoma. I was a medical assistant but I was not familiar with this in pregnancy.. as relieved as I seemed the baby was okay, I quickly found out that this thing can get bigger if it doesn't dissolve and its a "process".. so will my baby make it through this?  since its behind my placenta can it cause my placenta to disconnect from the uterine wall?!! I am worried I will be on my toes until I know its gone.. but how long can that take?

Has anyone ever experienced a hematoma in the past? Did you get through it and was the baby okay? how long did it take to dissolve?   No OB was on call because its memorial weekend, so needless to say the Dr. I saw in the ER said shes not familiar with this, and gave me the info she could get from an OB doctor in another location that she doesn't even know.. which scares me even more.

Hello there =) I hope you have stopped bleeding now...I had a placental tear/hematoma of a few cm at around 9-10 weeks along. Went to the er and baby was ok with heartbeat. Was just surrounded by blood. They prepared me for a miscarriage but said sometimes it clears up on it's own. I stopped bleeding the next day. They had put me on bed rest. At my 12 week ultrasound the tear and hematoma was still there. At 22 weeks it was completely gone. Baby is doing well. I also experienced this while already high risk for a completely different issue. Just want to let you know, it definitely can turn out fine. Just take it easy for awhile. Good luck and I hope you're doing well today.

I did stop bleeding. I didn't even bleed all that heavy or that much. It was light pink, kind of like I just started my period..  It bled that morning at 10 am (the initial scary random bleeding) throughout the day it was just a little bit.. it stopped afterwards. I wish they told me how big it was, because now I am a nervous wreck.   Aww, thank you for your story, it helps me relax and have hope for this to go away. Everyone I read about seems to get it early, so I am wondering why I have been diagnosed with it so late at 16 weeks... I hope its gone by 20 weeks, I have to have a c-section and can't risk preterm labor.
I will definitely try, and thank you so much Kayba3!   :)

I have two experiences. In my first pregnancy one was noticed early and cleared up by 22 weeks. With this pregnancy I had bleeding at 16 weeks and it continued until 20 when they found the hematoma. I am currently on modified bed rest and go for biweekly check ups to make sure that baby is still growing and to monitor it. I got shots at 23 weeks to prepare baby for early delivery and am currently at 25 weeks.

I had the same problem at 11 weeks. They told me it was a small hemorrhage and. Other to worry because it would probably fix itself. I am now 17 weeks and mine has caused more problems. Like I said, most small ones either dissipate or the blood just kinda goes back into your body.

In my case, it did detach the placenta and I bleed every other night and my poor little man doesn't have any amniotic fluid. My doctors aren't very hopeful and I haven't had very many answers. I go back tomorrow for my appointment and hopefully will get more options as to what i can do...they havent even put me on bedrest. I have heard lots of stories about everything turning out completely fine, so don't let my case cause you too much stress!!!

I pray that you've found answers and everything has healed itself!!

An ultrasound tech discovered a hematoma in my uterus in my first trimester. They put me on pelvic rest and told me no exercising or anything else that raises your blood pressure and to stay hydrated. I was seeing a fertility specialist then. When I "graduated" at 12 weeks and transferred to a perinatalogist the hematoma was still there. It got smaller and smaller until they couldn't see it on an ultrasound anymore, but it took a while. I'm no expert, but you're welcome to email me any time.

I have a friend from college who I email when I'm worried and she's been a lifesaver. It's not bad that you bled either because bleeding out is one of the two ways they resolve and that's quicker than waiting for it to dissolve like mine did. Even once it's gone they recommend that you be careful just because they're not sure what causes them, so just stay hydrated and try to avoid bumps (even "bumpy" sex).

    Thank you guys.  awww.
Yeah I am 19 weeks, I have an ultrasound on June 18th so I am scared to see if it got bigger. I haven't been on pelvic rest or anything, my Doctors act like its nothing so at first I was worried but everyone told me if they weren't worried then I shouldn't. SO lately I have been trying to be positive and live life as normal. I am however scared to see the ultrasound.  It has been 3 or 4 weeks now since the diagnosis. I haven't been on here in a while so sorry if the response is late.
Thank you PlainJane8350, I appreciate it so much!   I can't stand when everyone says "don't worry" or "don't stress" because its like, they don't have a child in their body that they have to worry about, or a child they have to be scared for.. they just don't understand.. Its pretty hard to get the point across with these people. How am I supposed to not be worried lol.

OlivaJ, I am SO sorry, that sounds terrible.  I haven't bled since that day so I try not to freak myself out about it..
My heart is definitely with you though.. I can't imagine.  My Doctors are doing the same thing, they act like its nothing and said its common.. Didn't give me answers. I actually had to call and INSIST they tell me how big it was because I didn't like the fact of not knowing.. the nurse looked in my folder for a while and said it was 5cm.  Not sure if that is bad or not...  I pray to God that I didn't do anything wrong because I went from being on pelvic rest at the ER, to not being on any rest or restrictions.
