provera--not so patiently waiting!

Hello,

I'm sure there are plenty of posts about this already, but I
want to share my story. I'm not sure if this is a good place for that, so if not, I apologize!

I was on the Pill for about 7 years, and would get a
"period" like clockwork. I stopped taking the Pill in October 2014,
as my husband and I were just ready to not "not try" anymore. I still
haven't gotten a period since my last pill. I made a Dr. appt, and it was
determined that I have PCOS. My weight is ideal, I'm not extra hairy, but I do have ammenorhea and polycystic ovaries.

We are now ready for baby, only to be told this! Frustrating,
but we're remaining positive.

My PA prescribed me Provera for 14 days,
to be be followed by Clomid. I took my last Provera 1 week ago,
and have not had any bleeding of any sort. Not even light spotting. My PA said
it can take up to 2 weeks to bleed after Provera, and if I still haven't had any by then, I'll be referred
to an endocrinologist.

Anyone have any thoughts, tips, stories about Provera? I'm
trying to wait patiently, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't worried!

Re: provera--not so patiently waiting!

  • Sorry to hear about your news and difficulty conceiving. I did provera after being on an increased dose of dept provera for about 10 years to treat endometriosis. It took me until the 3rd round of provera to begin mensturation.
  • I have completed 2 cycles of provera. My first cycle created a one wipe, one day bleed about a week and a half after taking it. During my second cycle, the provera took closer to 3 weeks for me to get a period and it was a nasty, short lived one. My doctor told me some people need a higher dose than most.
