I got pregnant at 42. We weren't really paying attention, lol, but I was off the pill for probably 12 - 18 months. Again, we really weren't trying to get pregnant, but we weren't trying not to either. We were just kinda taking whatever came our way (and we couldn't be happier).
I'm 36 and have gotten pregnant each time within 3 months of trying. I have had 3 losses though, and am now on my 4th pregnancy and hoping this is our sticky baby!
I am 35 and got pregnant on my 6th cycle. The cycle I thought for sure I was out on because of timing. I ended up ovulating early. and BD on ovulation day and day after.
We were not planning this, but I had been off of hormonal BC for a year at least. We were using condoms and went without 2 or 3 times - not because we were trying to get pregnant, but because other reasons. Anyways, I got pregnant.
Has varied for me, it's taken me four miscarriages and two years to get this little one , I'm now 21 weeks! First mc two months, then 2nd took 6 months to concieve, then two months and then one month. Lost all those babies. This baby was conceived first month of trying again and thank god is doing great...
I went off BC pills at age 35. It took us an entire year of trying. We talked to a fertility doc after six months, who didn't think we could conceive naturally. IUI and/or IVF were not financially feasible, so we kept on at it, and finally got pregnant naturally at age 36. What worked for us was charting my BBT and using OPKs. Best wishes to you!
I second the charting and OPKs! It took me three months of charting and one month of actually trying. Check out the TTC after 35 board, they are experts over there!
This is my fourth pregnancy (2 miscarriages, one baby and now first tri). First three pregnancies were when I was 35, and now I am 38. Each one happened first cycle.
Makes me VERY glad I didn't mess around without contraception!
as soon as I ovulate after giving birth to my last...I am pregnant again! I breastfeed exclusively for a long time and my babies continue to night nurse forever too...so usually once my last baby is just over a year ovlulation returns. I have had quite a few babies since 35 and it took no longer to get pregnant than it did when I was mid 20s
I got pregnant naturally at 38 after trying for 3.5 years. I'm now 39. No complications and my daughter is very healthy. Best to all of you Moms and your babies!
I'm 38 & we got pregnant immediately. Had my IUD removed and was pregnant 2 weeks later. We were a little on the fence about having another and, since it was time for my IUD to come out anyway, we decided to let nature take its course. Figured we might have a few months to get used to the idea...but, nope! Here we are!
We weren't actively trying but not preventing and it took 5 cycles. That pregnancy unfortunately ended in a mc and we conceived again 2 weeks later. We were both 35 at the time of each conception.
On average got pregnant every 4 or so cycles after that loss, temping and using OPKS, one time doing IUI and fertility drugs, BPF 4 times in total until DS which was the cycle right after a chemical pregnancy at 40, With current pregnancy was about our 4th cycle ttc, used OPKS only this time.. For what it's worth, RE told us we only had a 15% chance each cycle and would go down to 5% after 40 and I had lousy test results, so clearly science isn't always an accurate predictor of fertility..

I'm another unplanned, but you could also say 8 years. I tried for 5, quit for 3, avoided for a couple months but felt silly when it's not like I could do it even when I tried, so I could say I was avoiding, but I was putting forth next to no energy towards it. After 3 years I was pretty confident that nothing was going to happen, then this little surprise came along. I was 34 at the time, just turned 35 a couple weeks ago. They say that fertility is supposed to go down with age. I'm here to tell you don't count on it. I've never, ever had an accidental pregnancy before - in fact, every time I got pregnant (6 losses, chemicals to 11w2d) I was at the least charting and usually taking meds. Apparently age was what I needed because I'm 18w5d now and that's over 7 weeks further than I've ever been before.
I stopped taking the pill at 33 and got pregnant 6 months later (not actively trying), then after our first was born we just used condoms as I didn't want to take any medication while BFing. It was probably the 4th time in a space of two years that we 'forgot' to use a condom that I got pregnant again, at 36. Will be 37 when baby is born.
I'm currently 8 weeks pregnant with my first. This weekend I just turned 37. I've been TTC for over 7 years. It happened naturally! I'm still in shock.
I'm 37. We did IUI and a special donor (were lesbians) and were very surprised that it took on the very first try!! Most people we know who went our route took at least a couple of tries- one friend is still trying after 8 IUIs.
First child at 29, 6 cycles
Second child at 31 1st cycle not preventing
Third pregnancy just at 35 ended in mc 8 cycles
Current pregnancy only at 4 weeks, first child after 35 first cycle used OPK
For me looks like age wasn't a factor, hope the same is true for you!
IUD removed July 2014 (TTC since then), Pregnant on 4th cycle (Nov 2014) ended in MC Jan 2015, chemical pregnancy April 2015, & pregnant again May 2015 (5 wks along).
Re: How long to get pregnant

Makes me VERY glad I didn't mess around without contraception!
