2 Sacs-5 Weeks-First Pregnancy!!!

Hi everyone! I got my BFP at 9dpo after taking 50mg of clomid. I had my betas taken at 9dpo and they were 46. At 13dpo they were 561!

I had my first ultrasound at 5 weeks yesterday. We saw two gestational sacs measuring to be 5 weeks and were the same size. I go back next week to see if there are babies in both. I have found lots of info about people withone sac smaller than the other, but none where sacs are the same size. Does that make it more likely that my babies will continue to progress? Anyone have experience they can share. Is there anything I can do to help make sure my twins both develop or is it just a waiting game?

This is my first pregnancy (besides one chemical) so I am clueless. Normally I would ask my doctor all these questions, but I was in a state of shock! Would love some advice!

I worried so much during 1st trimester on sac size - one was always bigger than the other. Then when we had ultrasounds and saw the babies, one was always smaller than the other so yes, it's normal to worry and it's normal for 1 sac to be bigger than the other.
At the end for me, my daughters were 4 lbs 4oz, the other 5 lbs 5 oz and both went home with me after 3 days - no NICU. Now at 9 weeks, the 4 lbs 4 oz weighs more than the other .  Good luck to you!

    Me: 32, DH: 34.
Trying since Jan 2011. Unexplained IF.
    2 IUIs = BFN.
    1 IVF (Dec 2013) = BFN.
    FET, 2 frosties (June 13, 2014)

    14dp5dt-June 27 -BFP, beta 2061. 2nd beta >5000, 3rd beta >5000, 2 sacs 06/30.
Twin Girls - 02/11/15 - at 37 weeks (no NICU, home with me at 3 days).
  • Congrats! My first ultrasound with my twins wasn't til about 10 weeks and I worried a lot hoping both would make it. There really isn't anything you can do to ensure they do but of course taking care of yourself and taking your vitamins is always good. I would say the fact the sacs are the same size is really good :) Good luck with everything! I hope all goes smoothly!

  • Thanks ladies. I love hearing from people with experience. It is just a long week waiting to see if both babies are going to show at the next ultrasound. I am so excited I can hardly stand myself.

  • Your story sounds very much like mine. My RE also saw two sacs at 5 weeks, both were measuring 8mm. Everything has progressed perfectly fine & I am currently 13w1d. At my NT scan last week, one was measuring a few days ahead but the doc said that's perfectly normal. Best wishes to you!
