After laboring all night with pitocin creeping towards 26, they gave me an epidural at 6:15 am. 15 minutes later, they broke my water. I was 4 cm and only progressed to 5 cm by 9 am. However, I went from 5 cm to 9 cm in less than an hour and hit 10 cm before my doctor could get there. Ryan Aston was born at 10:05 am, 21 inches long and weighing 8 lbs 6 oz. I think I pushed for maybe 15 minutes and had no tearing.
It was incredibly intense! The nurse was desperately trying to find any doctors available to deliver. The resident on the floor ended up delivering...they actually had to slow me down so I wouldn't tear. My husband said I could've pushed him out in one push.
Its really horrible when they are trying to get you to slow down or not push while they wait for a Dr. I have done that before! Glad things ended up going well for you. Congratulations
