Re: Week of 3/23 Appointments

  • We are touring the hospital tonight and I have an OB appointment Thursday...hopefully tonight goes well.  Am I a wussy b/c I'm not looking forward to walking around on a tour?  Maybe I'll be so excited about the tour, I'll forget about my swollen feet....

  • We just did our tour this morning @gsancho! It was really informative and also terrifying to think in just 6-8 weeks we'll be there. The tour was only about 20 min, so hopefully yours won't require too much walking. You can always request a wheelchair :)

OB on Wednesday for me. I'm going to see if he will let me go to charleston for 24 hours this weekend. I really don't want to go, but it's OH's bday trip we take evey year. At this point there is no reason to not go, but I keep thinking what if and then we would have to be in charleston for months if they came early. Ugh. Any advice?

  • How far are you from Charleston?  It would depend on the distance for me.  24 hours isn't much, especially if you are going to relax.  But I wouldn't do a long drive (more than 3 hours).  That's just me, though.  I hurt enough doing a 4 hour drive 3 months ago, so that was the last of my road trips.

  • Duh- it would have been helpful to add that info!! I'll be almost 31 weeks and it is about a 2 hour drive.

  • Ehh....I don't think 2 hours is too bad?  I did 1 hour round trip in a day on Friday to visit with some old friends visiting from out of town.  I did fine for the trip itself, but I was worn the F out the next day.  As long as you set aside plenty of rest time, I don't think it would be a problem.  And maybe at the half way mark, get out of the car and walk around a few minutes.

I had MFM and the anatomy scan today. Both babies look good, and we are having a Boy and a Girl. at 16 weeks OB told me they are both boys but today I got pictures and they were both behaving.

@Sweetpotato123, 2 hours isn't too bad. I drive an hour both ways to see the MFM, but like gsancho I am worn out by the end of the day.
  • Tomorrow is a regular OB appt and then our 3D ultrasound! Hope we are able to get some good pics of baby girl! (I'll be 33 weeks on Friday)

  • @gsancho Thank You! Loved looking at the babies for two hours.
  • Had my 34w OB appointment with u/s today. Baby is already facing my back, so we were bummed we couldn't see her face. But all important vitals looked good!

One thing that has me freaked out though is she is already 6 1/2 pounds. WTF....she's measured big at every u/s, so even with estimates sometimes being off, I worry I'll have a gigantic baby. No wonder I'm so uncomfortable already! OB said to try cutting back on carbs to see if we can keep her below 9lbs. I already cut back on sugars, fat, and dairy due to gall bladder issues...so yeah, this won't be fun. Oh well, whatever it takes to keep her healthy and my lady bits somewhat intact!

  • 18 wk Intro with MFM and anatomy scan was yesterday. It was amazing to see the babies for 2 hours.

They're lined up like yin and yang- one on each side of my belly. Baby B was confirmed to be breech, on the left (baby B) and baby girl is on the right. Baby boy was an A plus student for the scan, but little girl was having no part in it. We got some good 3d pics of him...none of her. Hopefully she'll behave at the echo in 6 wks.

  • @gsancho I've heard these weight "measurements" can be off by 2 lbs which is crazy inaccurate so hopefully you are fine and baby won't be too big. I've heard a good estimate can be somewhere close to what you or your husband were at birth assuming full term.
