Pump of your dreams?

Hi Ladies,

I was an active participant on the board while BF my son, who is now 17 months old.  I had to wean him around 1 year (at doctor's advice) when I became pregnant again.

I am looking forward to joining the board again in a couple months.  In the meantime, I would like to ask a question of pumping mamas.  If you could have any pump you wanted and cost was no object, which one would you choose?   The last time around I used Medela PIS (aka Medela Advanced Double Personal Pump) as issued by my insurance company.  I pumped a lot because of long work hours and I had to lug my pump around day in and day out.  This time around, I would like to make it a little easier on myself, even if it means spending money out of pocket for a top of the line pump.  I really liked the function of the Medela pump I have, but it is quite bulky.  I am wondering if I should look into lighter more portable options.

I would appreciate any suggestions any pumping mamas may have.  TIA!

Re: Pump of your dreams?

  • I have the Medela Freestyle. It's similar to the PISA but from what I've read, more efficient. FTM here so I can't give a comparison but I love it! Easy, compact, quiet.
  • I also have the Medela Freestyle and LOVE it.  I've had the PISA too but the Freestyle is more portable (a little smaller) and so much more convenient with the rechargeable battery.  The Freestyle is like $400 at retail and I paid less than half of that through Aeroflow Healthcare because insurance paid for some of it.  You should see if your insurance will help out at all.  Here's a link if you want to check it out...good luck!   https://www.breastpumps.aeroflowinc.com/qualify-through-insurance/

  • If money didn't matter I would want a Medela Symphony!! I rented one with my first pregnancy and it is awesome. But since money does matter and it costs $1500 I am going to try the Freestyle this time. I think my PISA is worn out now after two babies and I don't pump well so I want to try something different this time.
  • I wish i could have a symphony they are lovely!! I have an ameda :( all insurance would cover

This except I have a PISA from insurance and like it a lot too.
