best time for bday party

I am trying to see what is best for a 4 yr olds bday party. I feel like at this age you don't focus on nap times as you would a 2 yr. old. The place I am having it at has pizza and a play area for a total of 1.5 hrs. Should I do 10:30-12, 11am-12:30 or noon to 1:30,etc? Its in the summer on a Saturday and I figured the earlier the better for most families but wanted experienced mom opinions.TIA

Re: best time for bday party

  • If you are offering food, which it sounds like you are, then I would do the 11-12:30 time slot. I say this because you might have younger kids there and their parents might want them home for a nap, which is usually mid day for lots of young toddlers. I wouldn't take my 3 year old to a party that starts at noon because he would be crabby and need a nap around that time.
  • thanks. That makes sense. I was also thinking if I did it too early that the kids with younger siblings might have a morning nap and that could run into the time. Either way, I know I won't please everyone but its nice to hear different scenarios so thanks.

  • DS's 2nd birthday was from 3-5pm and his 3rd birthday next month will be 3-5pm too. That's usually a good time, after naps.

I used to do that time but I was thinking since its in the summer people might want to go do something else after and if I had it in the middle of the day that might make it hard.
