How early is too early to look for daycare?

DD will be starting preschool in September.  My mom has taken care of her since she was 6 months old.  Is it too soon to start looking?  Also, anyone have experience with The Learning Experience centers?  There's one right down the street from where I work.

Re: How early is too early to look for daycare?

  • imho, you can start making inquiries/school visits now.  Some daycares/pre-schools have long waiting lists.  Never hurts to be pro-active.
  • I don't know about the one in your area but my son attends the learning experience in Michigan. He has only been there for about 3 or 4 months now. But so far it has been a wonderful experience.

  • I don't think it's too early. You should check around in your community I know I've seen some advertising for our local library hosting a preschool open house soon. That could be a good way to see what is all out there as well.

  • Last year I applied for preschool in January and I think they were full by March. This year DD1 is going to public 4K and registration started Feb 1.

    My Charts since 2009

  • Yes, it's never too early to start looking. Especially if there is a waiting list.
  • Interestingly enough, in our area all places were wide open for infant rooms. They have more waiting lists it seems for toddlers. I think this is really going to depend on your area.
