My daughter is 9 months and has never had formula. I want to make it breast feeding until 12 months. Over the last month, my supply has been decreasing a lot!!!! I used to pump a total of 6-7 oz at work and now I only pump 2 oz. I've been drinking milk tea and eating cookies... then yesterday, I found out that I am PREGNANT! I'm excited about it!
Anyways... what is going on with my boobs!!?? Should I still be able to breastfeed and what's going on with my supply?
there is not much you can do about it, unfortunately. for most women, eventually pregnancy hormones will overtake your nursing hormones and cause a major supply drop. certainly you can keep pumping as long as you're getting enough for it to be worthwhile. make sure you're eating a healthy diet and drinking lots of fluids to keep up with the demands on your body. since your LO is over 6 months you can try to increase the amount of solids she is getting if you are not able to pump as much.
i am pregnant and nursing my 2.5 year old, and i noticed a big drop in supply towards the end of the 1st trimester. i am now 15 weeks and can only express a few drops. DS is still nursing, but the sessions are very short.
