Cephalhematoma

Anyone else's LO have one? It hardened in about 2 weeks completely, but I'm wondering what your docs said about it going away. My doc said it could take years, but after asking Dr Google, I'm wondering if it could be less than that?

I'm a D14 lurker (my DS2 was born 12/30). I never got around to an introduction, but I wanted to offer some support/advice on this topic since it seems no one else has dealt with it. My DS1 had a cephalhematoma (he's now 22 months). His was VERY large, and I was so worried that it would never go away. It was so strange, though, it basically disappeared overnight around 6-7 weeks old. I know they are all different, but was hoping this would give you some optimism about the whole situation.

Thanks! He's 6.5 weeks now and it's still huge. It's completely hard now though. Will it still go away, or is this how it will be since it's already hardened?

My DS's got really hard, particularly around the edge, right before it went away.

Edit- meant to quote the above comment.

Yep my LO had one at birth on one side of his head. It seemed to get larger around 2 weeks and then went down very rapidly over the period of 3-4 days during his 3rd week. It's now gone completely. My pediatrician said it could take up to 3 months to disappear. It's not painful or harmful to them, it makes them more susceptible to jaundice but DS never got that.
