Pregnant after 35

Pregnancy Pet Peeves

  • I just got back from the bathroom and now I have to pee again
  • Some random stranger in the elevator felt the need to rub my belly, like my friend and I used to do with her mom's Buddha statue when we were 6
  • I just ate lunch and I'm hungry again
  • My shoes are a bit snug. I already wear a size 10, ok 11. Not cool.
  • My wedding ring doesn't fit either
  • Snissing
  • Getting up a billion times per night to pee
  • Braxton Hicks
  • I'm going to fall asleep at my desk, but I already had my caffeine limit for the day
  • All I can take for a migraine is f*ing tylenol.
  • My 1-year-old DS can't figure out why I rarely pick him up.
  • DS kicking my stomach and fighting me when I try to get him dressed in the morning

Re: Pregnancy Pet Peeves

  • 1. Gestational diabetes - I thought pregnancy meant eating ice cream all day!
    2. Exhaustion after only a few hours of work
    3. Incontinence. Lovely...
    4. Waddling at just 18 weeks
    5. Hip pain when I sleep on my left side.
    6. When I sleep on my right side my 5-year-old blows her breath into my face. [Note to self: Get her out of the damn bed!!!]
    7. Peeing. And then peeing some more.
    8. Lovely maternity clothes... not.
    9. Being told, "Wow! You look much further along than you really are!"

  • 1.  I can actually bend over or squat to pick things up off the floor.  But I have to pay the price of reflux causing my upper back to seize up and making it difficult to breathe.

    2.
DH, late at night hollering from upstairs, "are you working out?"
Me, "no, I'm at my desk.  Why? Can you hear me breathing heavily?"
    DH, "yup"
    *headdesk*

    3.  I don't remember the last time I could get a bra to fit properly
  • GASuzuki ... I get hip pain all the time when sleeping ... in BOTH hips.  Hate it!

mattandlora ... I think I would slug a stranger who felt the need to touch my belly.  I know that's gonna be a major issue for me when I get bigger.

I have a coworker younger than me and without any kids asking me "are you getting enough protein?" and "are you drinking enough water?"  She asks more than my doctor does.  I guess she's concerned, but it just comes across as condescending.

  • @neonnoon - I solved the bra problem. It is called the bravada seamless silk nursing bra. What? You're not nursing yet? Who frickin cares. It is stretchy and just comes in S/M/L/XL. It is made for boobs which change sizes with nursing, but works great during pregnancy. And since I weaned DS about the same time I got pregnant with this one....yeah. I haven't worn anything else in a couple years.

My hips were bugging me until I started using a pregnancy pillow (just the "one sided" style).

I used to toss and turn like crazy to get comfortable, but now I just snuggle up in that thing and fall asleep instantly. It's amazing, I really didn't expect such a difference, especially this early on.

I wasn't even planning on getting one (was just going to use a cheap body pillow) - they are expensive and don't get great reviews - but DH got me one for Christmas.

    • There are 4 adults / teens in my house, yet I'm the only one who seems bothered enough by trash and clutter on the floor to pick it up. Then no one feels guilty for making the pregnant person pick up after them.
Two other adults in my household and no one seems to care about the cleanliness of the place.  Drive me freaking crazy!

  • Thanks for the tip @mattandlora.  I'll be needing those.  I've been using bra extenders to help with the variation.  I can't quite cinch down at the band, or I get reflux  :(
  • I miss feeling my fingers all day long, now it's hit or miss. Oh, and the dropping of everything I touch on the floor is going to get old quick, especially in 2 months when I can't pick it up.

  • Hip pain while trying to sleep is awful.

People always insist in every pregnancy I am further along than I am based on my huge belly size.  I get so super huge.  By the time I am 6 months I am usually bigger than the average full term person.  Although I always insist my dates are spot on...everyone always knows better

People insisting that even though I had an ultrasound and there is only one in there...people insist I have to be having twins.

Pulling a ligament every time I sneeze.  Ouch.

  • The ugly wireless bras that I purchased and then couldn't bring myself to where: i have already outgrown at 10 weeks

I used to find comfort in laying flat on my back on the floor, at the end of the day, now it takes 10 minutes of flailing to get back up.

Peeing and having the other people at work see how many times I go without knowing that I am pregnant.

I get pissed at my 15yo for drinking  my sunnyD stash and then I get pissed at myself for being stingy.

BMs that  require deep meditation to dislodge or immediate and urgent rectum rockets, but noting in between.

  • oh previous poster: Snissing is the worst

Craving cokes and hot/cold tea ALL day

Wanting to eat an entire can of cinnamon rolls

    Lower back pain

  • Random people thinking I need to eat whatever healthy instead of what I want, or drink only water. I eat healthy 90% of the day, so if Baby wants an ice cream bar, we have one. Water tastes funky right now. My juice is fine per doctor.
  • @bashfulbird‌ you are so right about those undulations between BM meditations and rectum rockets
    **chuckles**
  • I second the picking up after people.  I'm annoyed that DH can't seem to carry a load of laundry up the stairs! (We have a split level) and then doesn't seem bothered that his pregnant wife is doing it .. several times a day!

Equally annoying that he seems completely unbothered walking right by a bag of trash that needs to go down the garage.. even though he's going down to the garage!  It's literally like his eyes don't work and he can't even see it.

  • I hate the hip pain! It wakes me up all night long!

Every time someone asks me how far along I am, I get the "LOOK"!! That look of holy crap you are big or they just say it in not so many words. I swear this is baby #4 and you would think my mother-in law, would stop with the boy you sure pop out there crap! She will say, I never got very big...blah blah blah! I am short and small and when pregnant it has no where to go but right out in front! So yes, I do look like I might have my baby tomorrow, but don't tell me about it all the time.

  • @babybliss76 - I'm complaining about the opposite! I'm average height but have a long torso and big chest. I'm still barely showing at 7 months. I'm still stage where people stare and try to figure out in their heads if I'm fat or pregnant. And this is my second kid! They're always supposed to show more. Another girl I work with is only 2 weeks ahead of me and I look like she did at 16 weeks. It's her first.

  • Yesterday a waitress I always see told me, "I didn't know you were pregnant! But I see now! How far along are you?"

I told her I was 18 weeks. She said, "REALLY?! Are you having twins?"

    Argh.
