Stepping back in quietly

Hi again everyone!  I've been on and off the boards for a while now but I was pretty active at one point.  We currently are dealing with a uterine issue and have 3 DEmbryos waiting for us in FL.  In the meantime, we are seriously considering traditional surrogacy with my best friend carrying.  I know there will probably be a lot of controversy regarding our choices but this feels right.

Is there anyone doing traditional surrogacy around here?

DH (35): MFI d/t testicular torsion and removal, Low T, Oligospermia, Anti-Sperm Antibodies, Currently on T supplements
Sept '11-April '13 ~  Testing, failed multiple MFI treatments, saving & TONS of praying
January 2014 ~ IVF/ICSI & PGS ~ no response to stims ~ converted to IUI ~ BFN
February 2014 ~ On to donor embyros ~ 5 blasts!!! 
March 2014 ~ FET #1 ~ Transferred 2 blasts ~ BFN
July 2014 ~ Kliman's mock cycle with endometrial function test
Sample too small for EFT, HE slide showed immature cells
New protocol planned, saving for another biopsy for EFT
January 2015 ~ Considering adoption options
April 2015 ~ Privately arranged adoption of planned pregnancy
DD#1 ~ Lillyana Violet Marie born 6/15/16, Finalized adoption 12/20/16
July 13, 2018 ~ BFP....WTF?!?!
7/16 Beta #1 ~ 466...7/18 Beta #2 ~ 1,077...7/23 Beta #3 ~ 5,291
7/23 US #1 ~ 1 gestational sac seen and yolk sac
7/30 US #2 and 1st OB appt ~ 1 perfectly round gestational sac, 1 perfect yolk sac and 1 teeny tiny heart beat seen!!!

    Hi Love4Labs! I was once an active member and have been quietly following the boards on and off. My husband and I are not doing traditional surrogacy, however we are doing surrogacy with donor egg. Our amazing and wonderful carrier offered to use her eggs, but sadly our agency/lawyer would not work with us if we did that. My signature has not been updated in a while...I can't quite bring myself to face my past. There is a wonderful community called surromomsonline where you might find more women doing traditional surrogacy. Anyhow, I'm here!!
    BFP #1 - chemical pregnancy, natural miscarriage at 7 weeks on 2/11/12 BFP #2 - u/s at 8 weeks showed a tiny fetal pole measuring at 6 weeks, heart rate slow at 94bpm. Natural miscarriage a few days later on 4/15/12 August 2012- Diagnosed with pancreatic divisum, September - ERCP w/stent placement. Fingers crossed this was the issue! Doc gave the go-ahead to start trying again. BFP #3 - Chemical pregnancy ending a few days after Thanksgiving 2012. Clearly my pancreas was not the issue. Doc told us to try one more time. BFP #4 - Chemical pregnancy ending in January 2013. Now I'm pissed. February- meeting with RE. Test results show I have a low egg reserve and DH has severely messed up sperm. Docs are quite confused as to how we're getting pregnant to begin with. Let the IVF games begin!! April - stim time!! 7R, 6F via ICSI, 5 made it to day 5, 3 look "good enough" to be sent for PGS testing. We are now the proud owners? Parents? Of 2 healthy frozen embryos. June - ugh. Lupron. So much Lupron. And Aygestin, and Estrogen, and Progesterone suppositories. Things are going in to my body every way possible! July 25- scheduled for our first FET. Aaand huge fail. All of the estrogen gave my pancreas a good old fashioned hissy fit. Long story short, moving on to gestational carrier.

    We did not, but I wish you all the best!

    After our long and varied road, I wouldn't pass judgement on nearly anything (stealing babies not OK) that people feel is best to build their family!

    GC/FET #1 of 1 5AA blast and 1 compacted blast, February 2014, BFP #4 on 3/1/2014!
    6w u/s 1 bean with h/b of 145 bpm, 8w u/s 187 bpm
    EDD 11/7/14. Please, please, please stick little one!

    Hi Lady,

    You know how IF is.  We get to a point when pursuing parenthood that we look into things we never thought we would need to consider.  I wanted to tag a few ladies that are now are parenting because they used a GC, @TRexsMum, @sammer818.  I’m not sure if their path’s were considered traditional or not.  Good luck with your new path!  I’m always rooting for you!

    DH: 38, Balanced translocation 5&10, unexplained MFI, normal SA and SCSA

    IVF# 1 W/ICSI= BFN
    IVF# 2: cancelled d/t no response
    IVF# 3= 1 egg retrieved=immature/not viable
    IVF# 4= c/p

    Found DHs BT and Me-decreased blood flow to uterus
    Recommended DE IVF w/PGD, incorporate electro-acupuncture. Decided to cycle locally

    Gestational carrier here, not traditional surrogate, but just wanted to say good luck with your journey!  What a blessing your friend is!

    Thank you so much for the warm re-welcome :)  We are planning to start with at home insems, obviously her eggs and DH's sperm.  I'm really hoping it works!  I'm still a little freaked out that this is the route we are taking but I do feel that it is the right move at this point.  I just never thought I would consider it.  You are right when you say, "we get to a point when pursuing parenthood that we look into things we never thought we would need to consider." @mm29

    Anyways, we are just waiting for her doctor to clear her and change her bp medication and then we also are screening DH for CF because she is a carrier.  Other than that, we should be moving forward pretty soon!

    Not judgement on the traditional surrogacy route, but I will agree with Trexsmum that you need to have all the legalities in place before you start.  Also, not sure what state you live in but your carrier would need to place the child "up for adoption" and you will need to adopt.  Wishing you luck that all goes as planned.

    We've already talked with a lawyer and we should be all set.  Just waiting on some blood work results and our TS to change some of her meds and we'll be ready :)
